Just been overt the new gaff to measure all the rooms, doors, & windows etc. The elderly lady who lives there currently is ever so nice but she's a hoarder. There must be like a thousand pairs of shoes spread around the place & some rooms you just can't get to the windows to measure them. Also discovered 2 "secret" rooms that I hadn't been in before.

This has to be super exciting, steve ! Do you have a move-in timeframe? Two, entire rooms you hadn’t seen?! A dungeon?
Closing the first week in August, but there's a lot of work to be done on the place. Need to be completely rewired, plumbing needs some work, some windows need renewing as there's a mixture of old & new ones currently. That's before any decorating gets started. It's a fixer-upper for sure but it'll be an adventure at least. No dungeon (yet)

Looking at solar panel options for the new house. It's all so confusing
Big difference in performance if you don't go for as much square footage as possible.
Square what? I've got a contact from a town nearby who can come and assess the roof space & recommend based on what we need to power. Also looking at being able to store any excess.

It's the amount of surface area you can fit in that will give you a chance of excess - you really only get a trickle from a few panels. Basically, cover the whole house and get yourself a sandwich board too

Maybe. The old lady who's moving out is a bit of a hoarder. I don't think she's thrown anything out in 40 years. So it's really not a pretty sight currently & I have no idea how on earth she's going to be out by August. The front garden is totally dominated by a fig tree. That & the bush along the front fence means you can't even see the front of the house from the pavement outside. The back seems to be under the control of a grapevine which reaches over the neighbour's driveway & also up the back of the house. That's before you even get inside. It's going to be a huge job.
