Aye ... I want female dwarves with beards though!! Isildur is a bit of a wimp also.
Latest theory (all tv world, not book based). Durin is going to go Lindon and find out there's a reason he's not seen Elrond for 20 years and that ain't Elrond.
A cunning plan to get Durin away from Khazad-dûm, then something other than mithril can be found in that old mine ... .. .

They could cheat for TV but Moria was abandoned in the third age so if they discovered the big guy in the second age then how do they put a lid on it? :/
Still not dug my appendices out bit they're getting really tempting!
czuczu Durin's Bane has to make an appearance, it was in the adverts!! I'm not sure they can adhere to the exact timeline or story as they don't have the rights, so I expect a lot of "right story/wrong time" plots .... I'm not getting my books out, I don't want to pick up on every mistake, I just want to enjoy it for what it is.

Not mistakes but choices, 's interesting cos most of the published stuff is 1st and 3rd ages.. Durin in this is actually Durin III and he gets the first/best dwarf ring from Celebrimbor and it then goes Durin > Thror > Thrain > Sauron. They'll never fit that in and it's already been butchered in the Hobbit films. Not sure how interested they are in maintaining continuity with them beyond the basic designs.

It's daft they don't have the rights to the relevant books - I think they'll use the characters in plots loosely based on the books, possibly ignoring or just heavily condensing the timeline.
I always wondered why there were so many Durin's, I guess it's the Dwarvish equivalent of Nigel. Although I'd never dream of calling Durin, Nigel.
So ... Elrond is Elrond but Gil-galad seems extremely shifty, Durin is funnily shifty. There is a Balrog in Khazad-dûm. Galadriel's armour now makes sense. Adar is not Sauron but may have bought him a pint. The Stranger appears more Gandalf like but .............. maybe he's an Amazon creation, a newcomer to the Tolkien world? I haven't slept, I'm allowed many daft thoughts.
Dead cool bit of chain work to take down all those Orcs
Even cooler they managed three days sailing and a days galloping to get to the village in the same amount of time it took the orcs to walk down a hill. Annnnnnd .... the hall they were sheltering in, didn't it have the floor removed a couple of episodes ago, have the builders been in? A bigger AND ..... is that Mount Doom, Amazon created Mount Doom?!
