The long cut of Fellowship is pretty much perfect for me but the Legolas-type action that started in TTT was out of hand by ROTK. Loads to like in all of them and I do still rewatch. Lush special features on the discs My first edition of LOTR was the paperback tie-in for the Ralph Bakshi film - which I haven't seen for years but really liked at the time.
K finished watching all three of the extended versions of the LOTR trilogy.
I think I’ll need to rewatch TROTK soonish, as it was my least favourite of the three, but it’s often cited as everyone’s favourite film of the three - So WTF did I miss ? TFOTR was by far my favourite, oh it was so good! I still cannot stand either Elijah or Sean, both were horrendous in their respected roles.
Question- are goblins and orcs really the same species ???
Orcs = Goblins, he changed the naming between books. I like the idea of Goblins being tinier and more mischievous though
Orcs are just forked up Elves anyway .
I never understood the love for ROTK, always figured it's cos it was the last so they lavished all the awards the earlier films deserved onto it. The theatrical cut of ROTK even has some really wonky continuity.

The extended 4k versions with Atmos are sublime, the remastered blu rays with Atmos are far superior to the weird 6.1 channel DTS-HD MA. The extended versions make the stories within the story make more sense.
Don't think I've seen the theatrical cuts since their original cinema run, the long ones are the only ones that count
Did you see the exhibition they had up at the Science Museum back in the day? All the props, costumes - even a few of the bigatures
Yep .... have you seen the reunion? Exclusive disc with The Middle Earth Not So Ultimate Collection
Don't think so, have the gold box with the appendices in, been a while since I dipped into those though. Have looked at the import 4K set a few times but not picked it up yet.

This is a new release, everything remastered - the reunion and Cannes Film Festival stuff are exclusive to this - cost way too much but I'm addicted, the wife says so. I can copy the disc if you want it.

This is the one that's been regraded and has new colour timing isn't it? I've not looked at any of the comparison stuff yet - have they gone more natural or more saturated? It's on my shopping list at some point.

That's them, the audio is a huge upgrade - especially if you have an Atmos system, I like the colour tweaks, the films look new again.
