Not all people who have religious faith are jerks about it.
I love, love, love our child's "bus matron" (terribly antiquated and sexist term) from last year and we have stayed in touch. She has recently started sending me religious memes peppered in with our banter, which are just a picture with a bible verse. I have never responded to them.
Yesterday, we were chatting and she said she hoped I wasn't bothered by them and she said she would stop if I wanted her to. I have never had someone who proselytized have enough respect and awareness to check in about that before. Wow, imagine.
It is refreshing, isn't it?
I had a Jehovah's Witness come to my door fairly frequently, but noticed that she would never go to the other houses on the street. I was always nice but would state that I wasn't into organized religion. Found out later she would purposely come to my house and bring new door knockers by to train them how to be courteous.

Now that I've moved, I kinda miss her.
Aw, that's a great story. I'm sure it was nice not to have doors slammed in her face.
I’m glad weedyburton79 encouraged me to vote early before I leave for the show, which I did today. I’m assuming there’s a fairly good chance I’ll develop consumption while I’m there and may not be able to make it home in time for Election Day.

Traveling alone is nice for a lot of reasons but I miss my family and having company.
Traveling alone... the hardest part is getting used to yourself as company. After that, you'll never be alone again. It becomes the greatest experience ever, with new paths and new people.

I love this! Thank you for the sage words. It’s working.
Being in line for hours @ Troxy yesterday helped cement my feelings about TCC. There seemed to be a fairly sizable contingent from at least one large TC social media group. They were acting as self-appointed gatekeepers of the line and I caught at least one snarky comment and dirty look from one of their “major players” when I tried to strike up a friendly conversation since we’re both from NYC. It was a bit ironic, as that person has often implored that others “be kind” to each other online. I guess that doesn’t translate to in person? A group was making tons of videos, interviewing, and making photo ops to post on the forum. It seemed like a whole lot of self promotion, IMO. In short, I got a real “hangers on” opportunistic vibe (not from everyone in that group, some were lovely). No thanks.
I think this really is a special forum. I’m glad this is my TC “home.” Sure, there are some kerfuffles, etc., as there always will be when people mix. But it doesn’t feel the same to me as what I’ve witnessed elsewhere on the series of tubes.
Now that I’m heading back and just looked at the news for the first time in days, I’m trying to stay calm and centered regarding the election in two days.
Please keep the colonies, I mean US, in your thoughts.

This man lives in our subway station and this bench is his home (for a long time, I think > 6 months). He disappears from the bench during rush hour. His urine has corroded the trash can and his spine and scapulae show through his sweatshirt. I tried asking him if I could bring him food a long time ago, but we couldn’t communicate. According to the booth agent, he has turned down multiple attempts at aid.
When I left for the Troxy show last week, I wondered if he’d still be there (read: alive) when I returned. He is. It’s really hard to feel you’ve had to become inured to this.
- just opened my post and saw she had sent me a german interview from the local newspaper. she’s 86 and still sends me stuff she thinks i might be interested in. called her and she said, of course she knew who this was! love it
