I've seen these being laid when Kev was doing Grand Designs. Apparently quite popular here in dem fancee houses. Lookit Richie Rich go with his heatered floors..

LOL. Cost-wise it's quite comparable to more traditional central heating systems. Did the sums here & it was cheaper overall. One of the bonuses though is that it means we don't rely on any gas at all & instead use a heat pump system that'll be way more efficient. There are also additional benefits that people sometimes forget. No need for new gas pipes (labour & material) & existing pipes, radiators etc have been removed & will be sold for scrap metal value. When the sparky comes, the old wires will also be sold for the metal content. I'm trying to recycle as much as humanly possible. Even some of the rubble from the wall destruction will be used as aggregate to fill up the mini-dungeon where the current relic of a boiler is before I pour concrete.
Not so much heated tiles, but rather the thing underneath them which is like a giant mat with a network of water pipes that warm the floor
It also cools, so no need for A/C in the summer.
It also cools?!!! I have never heard of this before. Wow, that's amazing.
So, given your statement about not relying on gas at all, what is your cooking range going to be like? Have you started researching that yet? (Although I think it may be the case that in Europe, gas ranges aren't common anyway?). I would like our next range to be electric (I don't love our current one)...

Yeah, it chills the water in the pipes to bring the ambient temperature down. That was the final thing that sold it to me. A/C's good & all, but it can start to be annoying with the constant steady draft. Going with a leccy hob & oven combo. Until now I've sworn by gas to cook with but when I lived in Texas I had a leccy set up for nine months & it was really good & a heck of a lot easier to keep clean. Something fairly simple like this
I've managed without all the silly added gizmos for this long so I don't need a "pizza function". I can make perfectly good pizzas without any of that nonsense.
I hate cooking on an electric stove top. Gotta have that FIRE BABY!!!
Yeah, I just can't imagine having enough control / responsiveness in terms of heat adjustment with an electric stove. I've had crappy ones before in places I've rented, but never a decent one, though. I'd love to phase gas usage totally out of my life, so I think when we replace our range, I'll at least *try* to find an electric stove I can live with.
Hmmm, but then again, you can't toast marshmallows for indoors s'mores on an electric range...

That looks nice. And yes, very easy to clean compared to a gas cooktop.

I suppose it would be MUCH better on a new unit, I too have only used old manky ones, not the best way to gauge efficiency of electric stove tops. But, FIRE!!! OGG LIKE FIRE!!

Two decent sized bedrooms are now one very large bedroom
The wall between the lounge & kitchen/diner is now gone
& the attic space has had that horrific bathroom removed. That's actually my favourite space currently but it's the last on the plans for renewal.
All the floor tiles are gone and the floors are all now approximately the same level, ready to be tidied up & have fresh cement poured because they need to be completely smooth to lay the floor heating down. Got through three skips full of rubble in three days.
Things seem to be moving along really quickly! In your latest pictures things are already looking so much more open and bright now that it's stripped down.
