From Consequence of Sound: Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor has been tapped to introduce The Cure. Reznor has been a fan of The Cure since he was 18, as he told The Quietus in interview last year. “The Cure were one of those bands that really struck a chord and Head On The Door is the album that made them really important to me. I got into that and then worked my way backwards. That album got me through a lot of long dark times. I felt that this Robert Smith guy really understood who I was and I loved The Cure from that point on.” Last year, Smith personally booked Nine Inch Nails to play his Meltdown Festival.
Reznor, previously said he “couldn’t given less of a sh*t” about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (NIN has not received a nomination since 2016). However, it seems he’ll feign interest, at least for one night, due to his love of The Cure.
Have you ever heard Trent speak? I think he's quite brilliant actually. I'm glad for it. He will do a fine job!

to be honest Pipperoo , i'm into NIN as much as the Cure. & you know what the common thread is: David Bowie. Bowie was vastly important to Trent & I feel that he is carrying the torch now. the last north american tour was amazing. sadly i couldn't make it to any shows but have a lot of recordings. they did over 70 songs during the tour. remind you of anyone? & Trent has blessed the recording effort & promised not to close the ninlive.com archive. there are some amazing tapes out there. i'm sure Trent will take the induction speech very seriously. since David is sadly no longer with us, i think Trent is the perfect choice. he has a lot of respect for his elders like Mike Garson & Gary Numan both of whom performed on the last tour. if you're interested there's a NIN offshoot called How to Destroy Angels that has Trent's wife singing. she's excellent, too. looking forward to the induction.
I don't imagine the cure in those 2019 Rock N ' Roll Hall of Fame, I hope and I wish that the themes are of your new LP yet to be released and let the staff hallucinate as after such a long musical life continue to create without being the cure
To the far right you can see a poster where the portion of the 2019 inductee exhibit devoted to TC is. They seem to somehow be eclipsed here by Def Leper.
And in a bit of "hurl-tastic" press release verbiage...
We will be broadcasting LIVE from the Red Carpet event prior to the Induction Ceremony on RockHall.com, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Facebook and YouTube channels and invite you to join us on the stream hosted by Carrie Keagan and presented by Citi and Hilton Hotels
Turns out Carrie Keagan has been a panelist on Fox News. Will TC actually have to be interviewed by her? I'm having a really hard time, if they are contractually bound to do it, seeing her get out of that one alive.

The only items given to the Hall for the Cure exhibit were supplied by Lol evidently, so there's unfortunately not much to be displayed. It's too bad RS couldn't loan out one of his old retired Fender VIs since they were so iconic and responsible for that unmistakable Cure "sound" but it's clear he and the rest of the band really don't care haha.
I'm sure they can find a back door and avoid all the red carpet hoopla, too!

The Rock Hall is having a Cure Fan Weekend in April. Not a lot of details yet, but a last hurrah before the 2019 exhibit is supplanted by the 2020 display.
"The Cure, "A Forest," as we performed it in March 2019 at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame awards events. This song was cut from the HBO broadcast of the event. Now available thanks to the Rock Hall."

All of the Cure stuff from the Hall of Fame is officially up here:

Until the induction speech & Robert's thankyous I have always thought that Perry's surname was pronounced 'Bamont' rather than 'Bamonteeeee'. Have I wasted the last 30 years of life?

The surname 'Bamonte' is of Italian origin. Pronounced, depending on the speaker's accent, as Bah-Mon-Tee (or Tay). With pretty much equal emphasis on the 3 syllables, as is generally the case for Italian words.

"Pronounce Names" at YouTube for how to say "monte" in Italian (means mountain):
This is fascinating, thanks! My husband has an Italian last name of three syllables ending in a vowel, but I never thought about the rhyme or reason of the stress on the syllables!
