I bought a membership in the hopes that a) The Cure will actually show up to the ceremony and B) I can manage to score tickets and C) I can actually manage to travel and attend.
I guess at the very least, Cleveland is a quick drive from me and I'll have free access to see the exhibit at the Museum for the next year. I'm still pinching myself this is happening. The Hall of Fame gets a lot of (deserved) criticism, but this is monumental for this whole genre to finally get acknowledged. This will definitely open the door for Depeche, NIN, Joy Division, Siouxsie, etc.

Welp. I got the membership too. It's a gamble since apparently tickets "sold out in minutes" last year. But I don't plan on going to any of those festivals so this is the best chance of seeing the Cure play. Plus Roxy Music who I have never seen live. Would be a great time to win the lottery and just buy one of those $1000 balcony seats
It would be so perfect if you would just fall out the window

I read the induction/show is in Brooklyn. You going to make the trek? Hope so!
Email went out today...presale date will be announced in a few days. Hoping the ultra-secrecy will keep some of the scalpers out. Anyone have any details on the sale? How many tix you can buy, whether it's advisable to pre-register credit card info, etc.? Last year apparently "sold out in minutes" so it still seems pretty uncertain ... I'm kind of excited at the thought of a Brooklyn gig ... no offense to Cleveland but I didn't get enough NYC last time I was there.

Sold out. Other than $2200 VIP packages... I tried 3 browsers and my phone, logged into ticketmaster beforehand, turned off my vpn, everything... failed every time after the ticket selection. Oh well I have an expensive t-shirt ha ha.
Hope someone here got lucky :-)

Yep, managed to get two tickets. I’m really sorry it didn’t work out for you. In all honesty I didn’t think it would for me either (I had about 5 minutes at work between clients and couldn’t get good cell reception), but my husband was lucky, I guess.

I got impulse happy and would up with a pair in Section 6 Row 11 and it looks like an ~exceptionally~ tight view that I'm not at all thrilled about, especially considering they were $256 each. I'll be weighing my options if it's even worth going and/or trying for better tickets next week. Does anyone have experience with Barclays Center to ease my concerns? I know it's sometimes good to just be in the building, but if these are as obstructed as it seems then I'm really just not sure.

I quite like a wide view of the stage and they're downstairs which is always a plus.

Yep. Reeves has been added to the list
There are class of 2019 t shirts too
Where's their best drummer, Andy Anderson? He performed on two of their albums, The Top and Japanese Whispers, whereas Reeves is not on any of The Cure albums.
I don't mind Reeves being on the list but if he is then so should Andy Anderson, Matthieu Hartley and Phil Thornally, all official cure members.

Best? I wouldn't go that far to be honest, but the HoF has a weird way of deciding who gets nominated. From a source i found
Groups get picked for induction for different reasons, says Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation president and CEO Joel Peresman, which means the hall's nominating committee will use different standards when deciding which bandmates to include. "Sometimes, it's the overall body of work; sometimes, it's a specific period in time and the people who comprised the band that put them on the map and gave them that influence and created that legacy," he says.
One could argue that the band were already on the "map" before Andy came on board. One could also argue that they weren't on the "map" (globally) until THOTD or even KMKMKM at least & so Dempsey shouldn't be on that list. & although Reeves hasn't been on any The Cure albums (yet ) he has been with them for over 6 years which is one of the criteria the HoF uses. Their selection process is less than transparent & their unqualified use of the word "map" suggests quite a bit of subjectivity rather than objectivity. It's incredibly complicated & does look pretty unfair, but it is what it is I guess.
I'm really happy Reeves has been added. He's been 1 of my favorite guitar players since Tin Machine came out. I was fortunate that I got to see him play with David Bowie several times & the Cure twice. On top of that, he & his wife are very nice people. When a (former maybe) member of the forum was in trouble they were very supportive. I know for a fact that a message that came in a dark hour was very helpful in the healing process. I hope to see him & the band play in Seattle soon.
