I just want to see a companion who gets scared, excited, puzzled etc. They shouldnt be the Doctors friend or equal or challenge him - its time & space travel and he is an alien.. They should be bricking it all the time!
Also, stop time travelling to coincidences or places by accident - you're the Doctor actually think ahead and plan to to do stuff!
My first regen was Pertwee to Baker, I've deliberately never rewatched them but theyre terrifing as I remember them Even Tristan had some good arcs, I still remember a decent scary Cybermen story from that era.
I've read countless lists of potentials, but if they really are going for a woman for the role, I honestly can't think of many better than Gillian Anderson. That lady can play anything.

Well it's a regeneration. It could be anything really. But I am willing to bet that most of the folks that wanted a female Doctor will still find fault.
But isn't the regeneration based on his own DNA? I never bothered with the "sciense" of Time Lords before, just wanted to see Daleks exterminated - but regenerating into a woman doesn't seem feasible. As he was refusing to regenerate a better could have been, might have been, Missy taking his place as the "Doctor", a dodgy Doctor, perfect!

Never really thought about the genetics aspect before. I suppose, as the Doctor is essentially an alien, it's all going to work a bit differently. I've seen a fair few comments sections kicking off about this choice today. From my point of view the gender is irrelevant . The main thing is the quality of the actor in the role itself. You don't blindly cast someone who's not quite good enough just to appease social media. The Beeb have said she gave a superb audition, so I hope they based their decision on that & not anything else. & yes. Missy would have been fun. Intense, but a lot of fun.
One day, the doctor will regenerate as a teenager or child. Or there'll be a Young Doctor spin off.

Yep the Doctor is an alien, but, they have male and female species - maybe he had a prehistoric fly encased in icky stuff at the bottom of his pocket ...
