Glad to come back on this Wild mood swings thing ! I really like this album and there is a reason to this: I was expecting a lot from The Cure after Disintegration, the Prayer tour, the Pleasure trip, the T&C2 concert, and then Wish arrived... I can't say how disappointed I was with Wish, no Big hand (the most awaited song back then, and the studio version later released was weak), a big massacre on Cut, Wendy time and even Letter to Elise was weaker than the live version from 91'. The Wish tour was not a very good surprise either, compared with what I attended in 89'. The only show from 93' was excellent, letting me hope for good things to come. In 1996, I wasn't expecting that much from The Cure, so Wild mood swings sounded to me like a pleasant record. Want was almost as strong as the live version played the previous year, Club America didn't sound like The Cure imitating The Cure, The 13th was fresh and cool, This is a lie is one of the most beautiful song Robert could sing, Jupiter crash was just brilliant, Gone was a bit like Lovecats #2 and Bare was very emotional. Treasure just sounded Like The Cure making a Cure song but was fine after all. Round and round sounds awful to me, but if you like Why can't I be you, I can't understand that you think it's crap ! So, I think Wild mood swings is a bit like Kiss me's sister album to me, a collection of varied songs you can listen in summer in fresh grass with a good beer. And more than everything, I think the Swing tour reflected perfectly the mood of the album, full of good surprises with a few things that could have been left aside.
After reading elimanning10 's post here thecurecommunity.freeforums.net/post/73330 I have theories on the cleaved in two clown's head. I am guessing it represents split personalities & not the indiscriminate slaying of creepy circus performers. Although the album does make me want to pick up sharp objects.

Or It may be only the black ink that trickled down his nose.
At night...I hear the darkness breathe...I sense the quiet despair...Listen to the silence...At night...Someone has to be there...

I understand the split personality stuff but that image is making me wants to hit a clown ( i wont do it but it would feel so good) .Still it looks beter than the *the cure* cd covers
