Been modifying the drainage ditches & the gravel road at the top of the driveway.
They're doing their job, but the flow of the heavy rain directs into them instead of further down the road. As a result, all the water flowing out now goes straight into the next door neighbour's little back yard making it look like a paddling pool 
So I'm trying to direct as much away as possible to minimise flooding next door.
As for the risk of flooding in my basement, that's practically zero now which will make for a more sound night's sleep without the worry of having to bale out after a torrential downpour

Been working on the basement walls today. They were in bad shape anyway, but, after the flood, they really needed attention


Have to take off all the loose plaster before applying a new layer

The base plaster is on. It's a special type of plaster that dries out any moisture. Needs a few days before the surface/ fine plastering can be slapped on. This will eventually be a darts room

Its 37ºc today & I have been digging a bloody great big hole in front of the basement wall.

It's about a metre & a half deep and 60 cm wide. Damp proofing insulations will be going on it & the trench will then be filled with gravel.
Had to stop before heat exhaustion took hold.
