The Vegas race continues to be a farce. 8 minutes into P1 a loose drain cover took out 2 cars & caused an hours long delay while they checked all the manhole/drain covers. It was 2:30 AM local time when P2 started & 4:00 AM when it ended. Before the start, they kicked out all the fans so the session went off to empty grand stands. I'd be mad if I spent $2500 for a 3 day general admission ticket. Most of the tickets were much more. All this being said, the track looks spectacular & seems like it will be a challenge. Hopefully F1 gets its act together for the rest of the weekend.

Interesting starting grid for tonight's race. 2 Williams & 1 Haas in the top 10. Don't think it's too fair that Sainz (placed second, starting 12th) got penalized for repairing damage due to a track defect.

It hasn't gone too will for F1 for it's first race in Vegas. Which, & it's hard to argue this, is more of a show than a race. Sainz getting penalised was ridiculous. But Mercedes threatened to protest otherwise as there's $10m dollars in constructor's championship money at stake. & yet all the drivers are banging on about it being about the sport first. I think Lewis summed it up in the first season of Drive To Survive when the Melbourne race went ahead despite covid. "Money talks", were his words. &, for once, I agree with Max. F1 seem to have jumped the shark over the past two or three seasons. Stupid sprints, Las Vegas, keeping Azerbaijan on the calendar. For a sport that constantly blows it's own trumpet on net zero targets & sustainability, it is sure doing its damnedest to find ways to use even more fuel, tyres & energy. If they'd never put the sprint format in, they'd probably have hit their target ahead of schedule.

Watched Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story. As someone pretty new to the sport, this was a fascinating and wild history lesson!
Some observations… - I felt like the final episode spent too much time on the celebration after the final race and wish that instead they had devoted 15 or 20 minutes to the aftermath of the season and key players instead of doing quick end-title cards with where folks ended up, etc. - Bernie is an @ssho!e. - Christian had some serious dental work done in the last 15 years or so.

Haven't got round to this yet, but will certainly pencil it in for a watch

It's really good. Maybe better than Drive to Survive.

The drama felt much less manufactured than anything on Drive to Survive -- at least the first few seasons. I actually stopped watching Drive to Survive after the 2020 season because I can't bring myself to reliving the 2021 season knowing how Hamilton got robbed.
