If you pretend Verstappen doesn't exist, today was probably the best race of the season. No safety cars, lots of battles in the field. Albon gets Williams into points, good job.
Verstappen & Perez out in Q2. McLaren out in Q1. 2 Haas cars in top 10. Shocking! Could be the end of civilization as we know it. Like dogs & cats living together....

The Red Bulls are going to struggle today. One thing about their car is that it's very forgiving on any tyres it uses so the drivers can pretty much gun it without worrying about degradation as much as the other cars on the track. In Singapore, the street circuit's a lot slower so getting the tyre temperature up is going to be a problem for them
Those last few laps were intense. In fact after that VSC it all started to get a lot tighter. To see the two Mercs hunt down Norris & Sainz was awesome. But poor old George. WTF happened there?

By far, the best race of the season. I never bought into Leclerc being the number one Ferrari driver. So great to see Carlos' form after the summer break. And his in-car decision making was brilliant to preserve the win. And love seeing Lando on the podium as well.
It was otherworldly the way Verstappen closed on Leclerc in the final laps! That RB is a rocket.

Everything after the VSC was riveting. But those last 4 or 5 laps were out of this world. I think I held my breath for all of them. At least right up until Russell binned his car.
Well, I guess it was entertaining, even if the outcome seemed inevitable.
The HAM and LEC disqualifications were unexpected. Definitely not helping HAM's bid to unseat Checo's spot as second in the Drivers Championship.
What irks me is that Sainz's & Russell's cars weren't automatically inspected after both their team mates got DQ'd. The FIA seem to think that random inspections are enough. I think that's a bit stupid (not to mention statistically bollix) especially the amount of money in the sport. If every car is supposed to be built to the same specifications/ regulations, then every car should be inspected. Moreover, when you have a track as bumpy as Austin, then insisting on parc fermé is ridiculous. The cars all run so low anyway that there is a pretty high probability that more cars would have had excessively worn skid blocks & it's just tough luck Hamilton's & Leclerc's cars were picked "at random". The stupid sprint thing doesn't help either. F1 constantly blow their net zero trumpet and yet they've effectively added a mini race (& quali) to some of the weekends. WTF? Imagine how much sooner they could hit their target without all that nonsense.
Pretty funny that LeClerc couldn't even make it out of the warm up lap. I'm getting tired of Russell's whining about team. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be happy to let Hamilton pass him. It's like every race. So, Vegas in 2 weeks. I checked into tickets & it was shocking how expensive it was. I wonder if they'll be able charge that much in the future. They sure don't want any rabble in there. It's been mentioned here before but the race isn't going to start until 10:00 PM local time. The whole thing is kind of a train wreck for the true fans.
