No struedel for you! Seriously, I wonder when people are going to wake up & actively try to defeat this thing (wear masks, get vaccinated). Fingers crossed but it looks like I'll be eligible March 22. They keep changing rules & dates though.
Ohio's governor announced today that vaccinations are being opened up to 50+ beginning Thursday.
This is where I'm expecting my years of scoring concert tickets to come into play.
Wish me luck!
Please let us know how the appointment-finding-making process goes. It's so wildly different everywhere. Hope OH has its act together!
Ohio has multiple ways to get the vaccine... you can go through local pharmacies or newly created mass vaccination sites. The Ohio Department of Health has a site setup for finding a place to get the vaccine, or you can go to specific pharmacies' sites to check availability/schedule or sign up for waitlists (there are external links to those places form the ODH site). I also looked at this Vaccine Spotter site, but didn't find the info accurate.
My experience today was that local pharmacies is a crapshoot and couldn't find a single one near me. But using the ODH site and searching for the nearest mass vaccination site I was able to get an appointment for my first shot next Friday afternoon (that was the first available) all directly in the ODH site itself. Got the confirmation email almost immediately after completing the process on the site. I don't know if it will be a drive-thru setup or what. Just glad I was able to get one scheduled.
I had told my wife on Monday when it was announced I'd be eligible as of today that I would be happy if I was able to get my first dose by the end of this month. So, I'm happy.

Got my first jabby-jab today.
I got mine at Ohio’s Mass Vaccination site in downtown Cleveland at Cleveland State University’s arena. The Ohio National Guard is running it, start to finish. There are signs from the highway directing pre-registered vax recipients and free parking lots all around the arena where it’s happening, along with cops and guardsmen directing traffic.
The guardsmen are ridiculously nice. Those stationed all around directing people are thanking everyone for coming out to get the shot as you walk by. The ones checking in and administering the shots on the floor are friendly and cool. he guardsmen administering first shot auto-schedules the second dose appointment.
Went inside, they took my temperature, checked in with my QR code, was directed to the floor of the arena where there are rows and rows (and rows!) of chairs setup. Each row has two guardsmen working it… One that confirms your ID and has you answer the pre-vax questions, then the other one administering the shot and scheduling your second appointment. Then they ask you to stay in your seat for 15 minutes post-shot to ensure no immediate reactions, then you just get up and leave. Easy peasy.

Finally became eligible yesterday. Distribution is a mess in Washington. Signed up for several waiting lists but wasn't able to at my pharmacy. It's a small chain & they have significant computer issues. So I called the store direct when they opened & was able to get scheduled for first shot this afternoon. Evidently no one was calling to get on waiting list. Sadly, I'm a big customer at that pharmacy & they were able to take care of me right away. They even have the Moderne version which is the one my doctor wanted me to get. He's been wired in with the whole effort & that's the one he chose (along with Dr Fauci). The city of Seattle is wanting to take over from the state which will be a disaster due to pandering to every special interest group in existence. Glad I'm getting done before that happens. So, fingers crossed all goes well later today.
Just want to break into the thread to acknowledge those of us here who are working as health professionals & those in the front line. I'm fairly sure that we can all pretty much agree, you are all fcuking heroes.
Restrictions in the UK are gradually being relaxed with things being targeted as more or less normalised by mid/ late April. But these idiots, protesting the lockdown*, are just increasing the likelihood of those same restrictions being re-imposed & extended.
*There is not & never has been a lockdown. People have been perfectly free to go to the shop to buy food & medicines & things that you can't really be without. They have been perfectly free to go for a run or a bike ride or to walk their dog(s).
I'm sorry. This had made me suddenly incredibly angry.

*rant over*
This is going on in my country as well today, hundreds of protesters in Helsinki. They are the science and covid deniers. Police is investigating them for breaking restrictions. One is holding a sign "facts and numbers do not match". No one is wearing masks and no safe distances.

One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain So hit me with music, hit me with music
I rather like this sentence. What is there to investigate? It's not difficult is it? They ARE breaking restrictions
It's crazy isn't it? We have all been in this nightmare for a little over a year. It's annoying. It's upsetting. It's frustrating& nobody's enjoying it. We get it. What next though. Protests that people have to wait a whole year for their birthday or xmas? It's pure idiocy.

They were breaking gathering restrictions which right now limit gatherings to six people at most. The organizers of the protests had made an agreement with the police to limit people to groups of at most six people, and only 15 such groups were allowed. Of course, that didn't happen... there was one group of hundreds of people messing around.

Then there should be fines dished out. Moreover, there should be stay at home orders for all those in breach. Let them see how a lockdown really feels like
vaccine the day after: up all night with flu-like symptoms. not pleasant but not a huge deal. i was expecting it since i get the same thing when i get the yearly mega-flu shot. & the shingles vaccine was even more unpleasant. am prone to it because of the other exotic poisons that i have to ingest. should be worth it in the long run.
