Just been pruning the scorpions & habaneros on the balcony so as to get maximum yield this year. Got chocolate habanero & Dorset Naga on the go this year alongside (a lot of) jalapeños & tuzes piros.
Just been wintering the chillies. Got one more scorpion to turn red & a few of the tuzes piros, then they can go to the basement. Had a "whopping" harvest of 2 (two) Dorset Naga. Hopefull next year they'll do better as I'll get them out earlier

Carefully.. The Nagas will be (with the scorpions) made into a hot sauce. Good for a kick when combined with melted butter & poured onto buffalo tenders. The tuzes piros serve as a good substitute for Asian chillies, so Thai, Chinese, Indian & Nepalese etc. will be grateful recipients. While the jalapeños, & habeneros will be perfect for Mexican stuff.

Nice. I typically use dried chiles in Mexican stuff since they are pretty hard to find fresh here (other than jalapeños, sometimes habañeros, and anchos) and don't cook a lot of Asian food on my own (wish I did more).
Wonder if you could do anything cool with infusing them in vodka, maybe even gin, or whiskey of some kind?..
There are still a few downed trees lying around after the "surprisingly intense" tropical storm we had Tuesday. Some were ripped up by the roots.
This has been my favorite neighborhood tree for many years. She survived hurricanes Sandy and Irene but Tuesday saw her take some serious damage. I saw the trimming guys cleaning up and they assured me she'll be OK.

Now that we have some small, private outdoor space for the first time I bought this boxwood for the back space. I have named it Herman Cornejo. I'm excited to have something to prune.
Been going over the front garden at the house I look after Last year it was all a bit of a rush & I put in stuff that didn't survive the winter. This time I'm going with year-round stuff Before
After
Lavender, pyracantha, 3 different varieties of malva, tulips & some marigold seeds. Looking forward to when it starts to bush up.
steve oh my goodness that looks awesome! Almost makes me wish I had a proper yard (I have a small balcony). Please post another photo later in the season once the garden is in full bloom!
For sure I will. I'm quite proud of it. That garden is effectively a pile of rubble left over from when the second floor of the house was built masquerading as a rockery. Had to find plants that would actually survive on it
