Ha! And here I was guessing they weren't spicy, although with the gentleman's attire, that would seem foolish.
Worth asking him. He might even let you have some seeds
Today I actually saw a woman come out of the house. I probably terrified her, as I enthusiastically pointed to the plants and went on about how beautiful they were. Unfortunately, she didn't understand at all, and couldn't even say anything amounting to that fact. Giant language barrier between us. Next time, interpretive dance...
I "wintered" all the chilli plants a couple of weeks back. Basically you cut them down to ~10cm stumps, put them in the basement or somewhere they won't freeze & keep them a bit damp until spring comes around. I've just been down to give them a sprinkle & they've all got new leaves sprouting
We went to the NY Botanical Garden to see the Holiday Train Show and took time to detour to see the desert and rain forest rooms, as well. So many amazing plants. I would like to move in and be alone with these amazing plants all day and night.
Check out these beautiful hanging plants... The bulbous, huge one is a type of African fern.
I played with my husband's macro lens (no idea what I'm doing) in the rain forest section to try to pretend like I was inside these tiny moss forests.

Just fetched all the chillies from the basement where I wintered them. The scorpions & habaneros are already really leafy . Going to wait until the jalapeños show some signs of action & pull the slower ones because I managed to score some Thai basil seeds for this year. Besides, I have about a thousand jalapeños in the freezer. Although my brother did send me some Dorset Naga chillies so they might get some balcony space too
Ate at a Vietnamese place we'd never been to before last night. It had been pouring outside on our walk over. We didn't have reservations so when we got there the hostess informed us the only tables available were on the patio and asked us if that was OK. Holy smokes was it gorgeous out there. There were lots more living walls of greenery but I felt like too much of a dork taking pictures so this was all I took:

Looks like you got the better deal eating there. Wow. Gorgeous.
