For my oldest daughter to get well soon!
Tuesday a week ago, she got unconsious, but still with her eyes open.
She changed her behaviour, and is still from time to time she is acting psychotic.
We got hospitalized, and they thought it was a meningitis, so she got treated for that.
It wasn’t, and they thought it might be a rare kind of epilepsy.
She continued being psychotic, hallucinated and uncontious (but awake) and also violent. She had cramps and attacks where she cramped AND talked rubbish at the same time. I was ready to call the local exorcist!
She got a CT and a MR of her brain, lumbal pinctures, blod tests and EEG.
Then they moved her to the psyciatric hospital, because they didn’t know what to do.
I thought it might be an acute stress triggered spontane psycose, but the psychoatrist was sure it wasn’t a mental disease, but somatic.
Today we went back to the somatic hospital, to make the EEG and another lumbal puncture, and the test results came from the other examins, that she has an autoimmune encephalitis! (Inflammation in her brain caused by her immune system)
She is now getting the right treatment - but no guarantee for effect though...
She hasn’t been sleeping a decent sleep since last tuesday, so yesterday they also sedated her after a major attack, and she slept all day, alle evening and all night.
She is still sedated, otherwise she will remove her intravenous access, and besides she still is some (a lot of) hours behind at the sleep account.
