Nick has cancelled, not postponed, the US/NA tour. Bummer!
Just saw that, wonder it it was booking difficulties or he felt that time's up for that material and he wants to move on - his work rate is fairly ferocious.
No, we still have a big problem with the virus. No concerts in Seattle for foreseeable future. We were close to end of the tour. Despite the rush to reopen going on, its probably a stupid move in the long run. Especially when you factor in over a week of large protests where most weren't wearing masks & social distancing wasn't a factor at all. He could have postponed until late 2021 though, far enough into the future to assume some progress had been made. I just wonder if he couldn't or he didn't want to be focus on that same material for 2-3 years, it would tie his hands as far as new stuff was concerned.

The announcement said they are working on rescheduling & there will be an announcement in the fall. I think he did it so that fans could get refund & wouldn't have money tied up for 2 years. Sturgill Simpson did the same thing. There's no reason he couldn't present new material if he wanted too. It's not like its a hits driven thing. It's a bit different over here with him. It's a big cult. In Europe he's doing arenas, here its mostly large theaters with the exception of NYC & LA. I"ve seen several artists throw in new material sometimes 2 or 3 records in advance of release. REM used to do that all the time & Springsteen was doing River material on the Darkness tour to name a few. Also, he hasn't performed the Ghosteen material anywhere yet. If you've read any of the interviews it's an important record for him. He'll do what pleases him & that's fine with me. Another issue over here is there are going to be a lot of venues going out of business. Without government intervention, some estimates are 90% of independent venues aren't going to be available. Sadly, we'll be left with the corporate entities.
Nick Cave and Warren Ellis dropped this today... CARNAGE
Devastating collection of songs. I am "White Elephant" and "Balcony Man" are really doing it for me.
It's another amazing record. Nick is on quite a roll. I really like his marketing, release to streaming etc (by surprise) & follow with the physical product llater. It must've worked out well with Ghosteen since he's doing it again. I was just listening to Idiot Prayer (affter the new one). That one gets better with each listen. Quite a performance. Mobody's Baby Now = chills down the spine.
