C'mon steve . You know something that you're bursting to share. Is he or isn't he? š
LOL. The message i got in 2022 (verbatim)
There's a sixth musician "on stage" currently, and it's Perry. He's there by invitation. He's got keyboard, guitar and Bass VI setups. And history. And friendships.
(And fan love... clearly.)
also, in a conversation about over eager wikipedia admins (and carrots)
Back to Perry -- folks have already added Perry Bamonte back to the "current member" list on the band's Wikipedia and have put "officially re-joined The Cure" into Perry's But -- nope
Again, this was 2 years ago. Whether anything's changed by now is a different story. But I think the real tell is the fact he's not in any of the latest photos in the bio at the official site. I'll not go into the carrots story. Suffice to say I hate them
This is true. He was an essential part of that incredible 2002 lineup where they were so tight. I have to laugh at Wikipedia. If you're somehow connected to, related to or even IN the band, you're not allowed to update their page. Instead they take information from lazy hacks who make huge assumptions in newspapers. How stupid is that?
from the official site of the band (which has been updated yesterday)
''In September 2022 the band reconvened for rehearsals, and set off in October for the 10 week European leg of their Shows Of A Lost World Tour, with support once again from The Twilight Sad. Returning after 17 years, Perry Bamonte rejoined The Cure on guitar and keyboards for all 46 sold out concerts, culminating in another 3 fabulous nights at SSE Arena Wembley London. May 2023 saw The Cure start the North American leg of the tour, performing 35 sold out shows in 8 weeks, including yet another three fabulous concerts at The Hollywood Bowl, and three more at Madison Square Garden. In November and December the band headed South, with keyboard player Mike Lord standing in for Roger OāDonnell, to play the Latin American leg; 8 delirious shows in Mexico City, Lima, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santiago, Sao Paulo, Asuncion and Bogota.''
p.s. : last image of the band (in the official site) that it has been used is the one before (or after) their appearance at Glastonbury 2019 ,the one that first has been seen on NME RS interview.
I believe they will add another new one at some point from an event during SOALW ('22-'23)

i don't think you can call a musician as a 'guest' when his has been on a long Tour EUR / LatAm dates and if nothing goes wrong he will still be on stage with the rest guys to perform,in the near future. Perry has been in the band and contributed in 4 studio albums, not to mention before he became a full member back in 1990. He is a CURE not a special guest. But that's me as usual,a loyal fan of the band no matter if the record will include eight songs or will be just a one song/single.

I feel like maybe itās more useful to think of it in terms of ācurrent lineupā than āmember vs nonmember.ā
Iām not implying PB is a āsessionā musician, because heās more than that. But if a band or musician invited someone to help them out for a project that doesnāt necessarily make that person a member of the current lineup. As a working musician, I doubt his feelings are hurt.
We all know how much of a loyalist you are, but it doesnāt have to be all or nothing. I mean, were TC giving out satin āIām with the bandā jackets, Iām sure theyād offer one to Perry.

If he did join the group only for those 22/23 shows, then it's a miracle I met him in 2022. I really hope he will be part of the future shows as well. I am wondering about the BBC show.. Let's see!
