Listening to The_Orpheum_Theatre_-_Minneapolis_(USA)_(17.10.1985) right now. I'm finding the setlist for 1985 a real drag, even though it's packed with my favorites! You know the old saying, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Ooo, Sinking starting again...
I've run out of things to say about the identical setlists. 've see three more performances of The Blood for 1985, but that's the only variety. Then it's off the 1986...
A crisp sound to 1985-07-16 - Viraggio - Lilo di Camaiore (Italy). Love hearing The Baby Screams and Secrets in the same show!
Also like the wild and total abandon that Robert throws into The Hanging Garden. Just enough of the audience sound singing along on this one, bracing stuff.

Woohoo, moving on to the interesting year of 1986 in my tour survey. Just finished the 1985 Ice Rink show this weekend. Now it's on to 1986-07-23 open air theatre - san diego (usa). As usual, these are not in perfect order but whatever filename order the year is.
Not a big fan of the playlist for 1985, very little variety. It would drive me to drugs, too. I hope 1986 has a greater repertoire (a little French lingo there).
The Baby Screams was sweet last year, but Shake Dog Shake just feels right as the show opener for 1986. (And 2013 in New Orleans, for me personally.)
Nice to hear a bit looser playlist, like getting Faith. Still following the Push-One Hundred Years-Forest-Sinking sequence, it's like they're hypnotized from year to year and have to keep playing this. Speaking of which, now moving on to 04.08.1986 Dax - Arenes de Dax (France). Exact same playlist as San Diego, separated by four months! I love the Dax show, though.
On the above Dax show, Robert introduces Faith by noting that when they previously introduced a new tier of songs everyone hated it, but now they want to hear those slightly older songs now.
And of course... Why Can't I Be You. Probably the rocking-est version of this song, great prototype that really kicks ass!

Sorry, I binned the link. Please don't post shares outside of the sharing section even if it's just a single track. Ta much.
Regarding your play list having little variety point, if you look at just about all their tours, the setlist has been fairly static with a nucleus of songs & an infrequent curve ball thrown in from time to time. That they started adding "new" tracks in 86 is basically the result of Boris having rehearsed the songs & them being comfortable enough to add them to the set when they felt like
edit. Just also remembered that Lol hadn't been playing keyboards too long either by that point. He would have had to learn the parts aswell I suppose.

Very little variety but what a hell of a setlist! The new tracks of Head On The Doormixed with the old ones are really a great mix to me. Moreover, The Cure were really climbing on the roof on the world during this tour. Their huge success was very new and they seemed to appreciate it. And they sound very tight and professionnal on this tour. Probably one of my favorite tours.
Thank you for the comments, as I imagine there are a number of people here (many people) with better insights than me on these years and selections. Let's keep it rolling.
