Getting a sugar rush here listening to the very high quality audience recording 1985 08 03 Turku, Ruissalo 'Ruisrock Festival' (Finland), and the epic soundboard 22.10.1985 Cleveland - Music Hall. Too sweet, even Screw's got me dancin'.

Got The Eels, Faith No More, Jane's Addiction, Nirvana, and TOOL as well as The Cure.. slow, awesome going...

Been listening to Palais Omnisport Bercy Paris 18_12_1985, Grenoble Alpexpo France 16.12.1985, and the FLAC respeed of 1984-04-25 Newcastle [M.B.]. Loved hearing Wailing Wall and The Empty World again. It's like they were banned from the 85 tour, maybe they were tired of playing them. Nice to hear an out of order show, as the 85 sets are extremely uniform to put it mildly. Yesterday I took a nap and listened to the 1989 Dallas Starplex show on my real stereo (and not my laptop's dual Logitech travel speakers) and remembered what I love about the Disintegration era. I yearn to hear Closedown, Untitled, and Homesick live, but I think I missed my chance. I've got ten 1985 shows to listen through before moving on to the next year. I love every performance of Sinking, but my ears are about to fall off from the rest of the set. Could get through the rest of my overview never hearing One Hundred Years again. Pornography is a great album, and that's the only thing worth playing through the years? Really? I don't see how.

I remember seeing them do The Hanging Garden in New York at the end of the 4Tour & Cold has made one or two outings since, but One Hundred Years seems to be indelible from the set. I don't mind that really, but I do so wish they'd put that snarling guitar outro back in. That was always epic.

Think about it from the perspective of a fan back in 1985/6 - waaaay before the internet and to most people, before bootlegs.... Hearing a rocking version of an "old" song like that in what would've been a set list featuring more and more upbeat songs (think how the set changed from 84 to 85 to 86) would've been a godsend for fans of "the old stuff".... we are s(p)oiled by the internet.... not that i'm complaining... jus sayin'...

I think another thing to consider is the fact that 85 was the first time Simon was back since the fight in 82 & Boris' first whole tour. Given the 85 shows were like an hour & a half & it was primarily to promote THOTD I suppose they had to be choosy about what to rehearse from the back catalogue. Also, if you look at all the tours, the setlists have always been pretty static.
