fiveswinglive, wtf. 45 likes on this thread, you're nuts! Thanks, but there is a lot more to do on Saturday, believe me. Do something!
(46-47-48) I found the thread very enjoying. I had to read all of them!!! Yes all. I would have finish reading them all last night but had to sleep, just finished a minute ago. First, Congratulations on your wedding. I'm always up and about on the weekends, but today I can't because I'll be going out to sea for 7 days in a an hour or so. I'm in the Navy and I spend a lot of my time out to sea with ships training them..which gives me time to listed to the Cure. I was going to PM you about ask you to guide me in the right direction to start the same journey that you are on. How should I start, should I download all the shows in order, what program should I use to convert the download to be able to enjoy the music to the max. How should I arrange them..you know all that jazz. Maybe you can help and send me a list.. err directions. I can relate a bit with you when you say that your first album was a copy of the Mixed up Cd. I was introduced to the Cure the same way. A friend of my brothers used to come over to the house and bring all types of music for us to listen to. Such artist as NIN, Front 242, Petshop boys, Erasure, Depeche mode, The Smiths, Morrissey..etc. In particular, when he brought the MIXUP CD, I just had to have it. I rush to the store the same day and bought my first CD ever..Yeap , I said it right. My first CD ever was MIXED UP. How could that be possible you may ask, well, I grew up in Mexico and in my culture we don't have access to this type of music. I grew up listening to BANDA, Mariachi and the like. So you can imagine my excitement whenever our friend came over and had us listening to what he used to call alternative music. I remember listening to MIXED up the entire year..Up to this day it never gets old for me. Over the years, I slowly have collected a bit of things here and there but just recently I ramp it up a bit. My wife and I go on excursions to find cure related items in the weekends. We enjoy the same type of music and for the most part she enjoys life with me. We have been married for over 20 years now, so she knows how passionate I'm. (it's the Mexican blood in me). Anyway, I have to run or for the lack of better terms..Sail. Keep posting.

Hi fiveswinglive,
Well Mixed Up was my first Cure CD as well. I bought it when it came out in 1990. Although it was released shortly after Disintegration, I did not buy that CD until 1999. So to my hearing, Mixed Up is old and Disintegration is newer.
I would suggest you start your live listening tour with the Paris CD. This is an official release from The Cure, and has a good sampling of oldies and treats from Wish.
Wembley 1981, Bizarre 1998, and New York Irving Plaza 1997 are the live audience recording shows I started with. So it's okay if you skip around in your song playing like I did.

Welcome and thank you.
Thanks for the recommendations. I listen to all the shows and noticed the multiple variations in instruments and voice inflections. The variations that I have listened through the years never seizes to amazes me. I'm going to start listening to the early shows available here. Guess first thing to do is download and convert them so I may listen to them while I'm on my runs. Thanks again.

Kind of breezed through some of the 1987 shows without any notes, such as both nights in Buenes Aires which were pretty good. Having a nice listen right now to the crystal clear 23.10.1987 Stockholm - Isstadion (Sweden) audience recording. The Kiss really sounds great as the show opener. It never seems quite right as an encore, you know? Oh, I love hearing Torture, not a pain at all!
I'm listening to 1987-07-22, Reunion Arena, Dallas, USA right now. How exciting to be looking forward to a tour stop at my state (or near my state) in 2016!
Listening to 1987-08-10 New York - Madison Square Garden (USA-NY). This was someone's FLAC that I obtained from the old CCC board I believe.
Love hearing If Only Tonight We Could Sleep. Lots of screaming from the New York crowd, I would have, too. I always listen for Like Cockatoos. Fun to switch to Inbetween Days, fun for every show! How Beautiful You Are is such a common track from the Kiss Me album, but I would have loved to have heard anything like this on Bloodflowers or 4:13.
This was a two night event in New York, with the second show at 1987-08-11 New York - The Ritz (USA-NY). The setlist was shaken up a bit, with some fresh surprises like Primary.

Yes, that Vorst show was good enough for inclusion on my Car CD collection some years ago. I just finished listening to 1987-10-28 Köln Sporthalle (Germany) [M.L.] FLAC. Nice to hear a medley for Why Can't I Be You?
I was humming All I Want and How Beautiful You Are this morning. That's over 25 years ago. It drives home just how bereft The Cure has been of songwriting talent since then. Listening to new albums from Robert is like listening to the sound of one hand clapping. I wish he'd get over whatever made the band drift apart and do some new collaborations with the old band members. They're all still living!
