Since I'm new here, I'm poking around on old threads.... So forgive me please, but I'll throw my one cent in...

I'm not goth. I don't go to goth clubs, I don't wear goth clothes, I don't identify with the label, nor would any that do include me in their ilk. I like a lot of decidedly not goth things. My favorite color is blue.

Nor do I consider the Cure goth.

That being said, I wear a lot of black. I write poems about death. I love cemeteries. I have all the Sisters of Mercy albums. I couldn't imagine life without black eyeliner.

Overall I just call myself alternative.

Much like the Cure they kind of get lumped into the Goth thing but really aren't strictly that way. Definitely some elements though.
