Absolutely. And for some Goths it really is about the rebellious part (showing off how they don't fit in), for others they just do what they like and feel comfortable with. Especially the latter group has to deal with being confronted with the same preconceptions people have about a group that dresses in a certain way. Unfortunately, as long as you wear this particular style, you will have to deal with these prejudices - I don't think one can expect people to educate themselves about the all the aspects of one subculture, they see black and then draw their conclusions. What you can expect though, is for people to have an open mind and do the not judging a book by it's cover-thing. But we live in a world full of ignorant a-holes and stupid people, so it's wishful thinking.... just think about that LA Clippers guy and how long he has been flying under the radar with his racial world-view. Luckily there are also nice, intelligent people that cross your path once in a while, best you can do is to focus on them and not let the other guys drain your precious energy.
And as professional people we still maintain a certain professionalism at work etc because we have to. But when we are on our own time let us be who we are.
I'm a disaster ... I just can't look professional I try and break up the black a little for work So not to scare the children. But today after one horror of a morning This goth biker thingy girl has sadly just noticed she's gone to work in black trousers ... Inside out not one person said about it ... Complete with label on my bum .. There is no hope here

Had to laugh yesterday went for some time out by the sea on one of the bikes . The bloke walking a dog clocked me . Just glanced . Then I took off my jacket and crash helmet and his jaw dropped !!!! I plait my hair back so was undoing that shock my head and he nearly walked into a lamp post ... It mad me turn around and laugh.. I'm far from glamorous I think it was the shock of OMG it's a girl!!!! It was one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. I should have waved and shouted " evening !!!" .
