So cool that so many Cure fans also love DM. I have to say I probably listen to DM more these days, mainly because of the new album coming out. That may change if The Cure ever decide to put out something new...........
I would have to disagree. I really loved Playing the Angel and I thought Sounds of the Universe was pretty good, after a few listens. But Delta Machine? It's pretty darn horrible, and I've listened to it about 6 times now. The first time I listened to it I literally fell asleep about 5 songs in. It should be called ►isappointment ▲▲achine
...and this is coming from a die hard DM fan.
I will still go to a couple of shows during their tour though. They never disappoint live!
I love Heaven. Might buy the album. It sounds better than the last couple.
I listened to the whole thing on itunes yesterday, and unfortunately it seems to be suffering from the same syndrome that Sounds of The Universe and PLaying the ANgel had (for me anyway)....the first 4 or 5 songs are amazing then it kind of falls away into a strange mish-mash of stuff that I didn't enjoy. There is one song in the middle of the album that I had to skip because whatever noise Martin was making (I assume it was Martin anyway) was actually hurting my head. However that was based on one listen...might change after a few more!
I've watched on the weekend the rest of a documentary about Depeche Mode and a journalist said that Andrew Fletcher told her that he doesn't talk to Dave Gahan. Isn't it strange? Always thought that they're friends, but it seems they aren't. Okay, i have not that huge knowledge about DM
If there is thing that I can not digest by DM - then their personal relations. Already for more than 20 years - they are just company, held together by the money. They are still one of my top five bands (and are since 1987), but this is so unnatural to me. If you can not see each other or you are not able to talk at least - then split and that's it.
I'm listening to Delta Machine right now and on the fourth time round. It's sounding better on each play, much better imho than SOTU which I personally thought was a bit weak. I give it 9/10 at the moment

Unfortunately, I am not in love with Delta Machine so far... Somehow presumed that I will not be... Too much of just fillers. Not sure about idea of giving the space for Martin to sing a little bit more... It reminds me a little bit on Exciter... But there is no light for me on the horizon sadly... Regarding SOTU my feelings have been pretty mixed for I really loved some songs but not the album in the whole, on the other hand Playing the Angel was very nice surprise IMO. Loved nostalgia feeling around it. Still do plan to see them in Bern on June 7.
