First let me say that three hours of The Cure is never a bad thing! I was just kind of surprised that they played more or less a "festival" set, where they have to please everybody. This tour is only The Cure, so hopefully there will be some meaty gems to come later. I am so happy for all the people that got to see them for the first time!! Three hours - you definitely got your money's worth - they made it count, as they do, every time. They gave it their all.
they hadn't played there in 17 years, for many people it was the first time they saw the band live, so it's good to have all those hits in the set. we can't judge it by comparing to european or US shows. Even if some people follow the tour, it's more diffucult to follow than in Europe due to the large distances, wouldn't make much sense to vary the sets Swing-Tour-Style ;)I don't think the main set will change during the LatAM tour, maybe only alternating the Wish & Disintegration openings and endings. encores are the place for surprises
Given the time since the cure played LatAm the set was a good selection for the audience - though saying that, I'd have been marginally disappointed if I'd travelled from the UK to get pretty much a 2012 setlist. (Especially having seen that the kiss me encore wasn't played!)
However - 40 songs - incredible and great value.
Looking forward to hearing news on the other shows for this leg of the 2013 tour...

Only a word: AWESOME. I'm very happy for LatAm! Only a little bit jealous about Charlotte Sometimes, and Fascination Street too And THAT Disintegration encore OMG. And the end...

I can't describe it, neither in italian!! This morning when I checked the setlist I felt like a child opening her christmas presents I'm still shaking... I can only hope that they'll return in Europe soon This saturday I'll stay awake, no matter what
I think the set was well thought out. 17 years & you're going to have a lot of The Cure "virgins" & the LatAm public are very much party time people. They know how to go crazy & a good helping of upbeat poppy songs is going to hit the spot every time. The inclusion of Fascination Street & Prayers For Rain was very cool too. But concerts are a multi faceted thing. It might be a very similar set to Summercure, but it's the way it's delivered & the way the audience responds that make concerts stand out I think. I'm looking forward to hearing some of the show from last night very much. *goes to refresh dime again*
I have mixed feelings about last night's show but only because of the "leaked setlist" that was posted. There were some real sparklers there and if they had played them all?....what a show that would have been! But it does give me hope that we will hear some of those other songs at the remaining shows on this tour. All in all I would say it was a nice setlist to start the tour off!
It's hard to have an opinion without listening to it. By watching the setlist, Lyon 1998 was supposed to be a good concert ! Anyway, no big surprise at this show... No rare track like Just one kiss or Fight in 2012... Waiting for Faith songs or more from Pornography. C'mon boys, surprise us !

Please be a dear and let us know if you find anything?
Steve has broken Dime, too many refreshes!
From what I've seen from the videos it seems to have been a far more polished performance, I wonder if that is Tim Pope's influence or just Reeves feeling more comfortable in the band? Either way, by the end of the tour - or somewhere in the middle, I reckon the Cure will once again be rated the best live band on the planet.
