Tonight’s delights (hey that rhymes!) will take place at the 12,000 person capacity Quarterback Immobilien Arena in Leipzig. The home of the German handball team.
Situated sort of upper right of the middle of the country, the city is host to the annual Wave-Gotik-Treffen festival. But remember. The Cure are not a goth band okay?
But it is home to Europe’s oldest coffee shop so get down there for a cup of Java to shake off the goth cobwebs.
A rich source of music, Leipzig was where John Bach spent most of his time & is also the birthplace of Richard Wagner, brother of Robert who himself went on to marry the late Natalie Wood & take a turn as super-baddy Number Two in the second Austin Powers movie.
Those of you who are passing through the airport today will recognise it from its starring role (& utter destruction) in Captain America: Civil War where a battle royale took place between the Avengers on the airport’s apron. This, of course it hotly disputed by comic book nerds (isn’t everything?) who claim it to be entirely inaccurate & that the battle should have been in the departure lounge or, worst case, baggage collection where the wifi service would have been optimal for all their communications devices to function. No matter what Tony Stark says.
Musically, other than dead people, Leipzig’s biggest star is greased up, easy listening crooner Till Lindemann, front man for flame thrower enthusiasts & sometimes-musicians Rammstein.
Currently maccatori , wilgy , altendalton , ruegi , godwina , jofigurehead are en route to the arena for this evening’s fare & we wish them the besest of times as always.
But I’m pretty sure they’ll make a pit stop for some delicious, crackling coated Eisbein & a few bottles of Gose.
