Ugh - it's finally here! It's not me (yet?) and I don't want to violate the privacy of anyone in our house, but someone tested positive this morning. Crud, crud, crud. I thought we'd never get it.
Someone is, however, not too sick to play video games, so I suspect they'll live.
Hope they feel better & no one else gets it. I hear ice cream has curative powers for COVID...
Carp, I've got it. It's gonna be a loooooong week at home.
You are the eighth person I know of in who is vaxed and boosted who has tested positive for COVID in the last two weeks. I think this is the result of so many in the US who are protected starting to go out and live more active (closer to pre-pandemic) lives. We're all doing our individual calculus and adjusting our acceptable risk levels. None of our friends who are positive have had anything more than cold-like symptoms and maybe a little more tired than usual. Hope your experience is similar.

According to my medical people (cast of thousands) the latest omicron variant is out of control contagious regardless of vaccination status. I had to double mask today during physical therapy. The plus of being vaccinated is that if you catch it, it's likely to be on the mild side.
Yesterday I slept a ton and also got about 11 hours of sleep last night. The foods/beverages that didn't taste foul were pineapple, peppermint tea, and a bit of ravioli with tomato sauce. Yogurt with cereal and coffee tasted really AWFUL, like a cross between ultra bland (chewing cardboard) and bitter. Any virus that. makes coffee undrinkable must be eradicated!
No fever (I never get them), just lots of congestion, coughing, fatigue and some body aches. Feeling much more energetic today. I think the worst is definitely over, and it wasn't that bad. The video game addict is much better, but still testing positive, so can't go back to school tomorrow, as originally planned.
Mr. K is holding his breath and hoping he doesn't get it.
ETA: I found a phone # yesterday that was indicated as the one I should call to report my case. Called it and of course the automated message had no option to report cases and there was no way to connect to a human. So, here in NYC, for all intents a purposes there is no way to self-report if you've taken a home test unless you have your dr. do it for you (I don't have a primary dr. because hour health care system is so messed up). When I checked the stats for our neighborhood last Friday when the spawn came down with it, we were at 9%. I wonder how woefully inaccurate that number is. It could be double that, for all I know.
Seems I overdid it yesterday and set myself back, or perhaps up and down is simply the nature of the beast. I was feeling so good when I woke up at 7:00 a.m. yesterday that I cleaned house and helped my son with schoolwork until 2:00 p.m., when I started feeling wrecked.
Since I'm the type that won't rest unless someone tells me to forcefully because I feel guilty for not pulling my weight, I had to be clear with my husband and son that I would be sequestered in the master bedroom all day long. Been sleeping on and off with the cat. I can't hear out of one ear. I'm really hoping tomorrow will be better because I didn't overdo it today. My biggest fear at the moment is not being well enough to work on Monday.
So many of our neighbors and family members here have it now, too. As I'm sitting on the balcony, I can hear my neighbor upstairs coughing. It's like we're doing call and response. The family downstairs from us has it, too.
This variant is not playing around. I know our family never stopped masking and wasn't eating inside at restaurants. It's really bad here.
Hold on @notkristie. Hope you get well soon. Here, cases are slowly rising again, although this time seems like the virus is not as agressive as before.

Thanks, gongoro73, doing a bit better today. It is a less aggressive variant I think, in terms of seriousness. I’m judging by the number of ambulances I’m not hearing here. Stay safe to you, too!
