I've been having some VPN issues. I was experimenting with Proton & evidently it's banned from this site? Any enlightenment as to why would be appreciated. Thanks.

The reason for some VPN clients being blocked is that they have been regularly used by people for fraudulent/ malicious activity. In some cases DDOS attacks which bring down servers. Not all clients are blocked. I know of Proton & Atlas but I'll see if I can get a list.

Got a wifi dead spot upstairs so looking at getting a TP-Link TL-WR820N Router to make an access point that won't break the bank
It may be worth getting a used one first, a new router doesn't always work - saying that, I ditched the bog standard BT Router for a Netgear WiFi 6 Gaming Router and it added 300Mbps to my download speeds. It did cost a fair bit though!
Believe me, it took me a fair old while. I could have done it with a straight up router but there's a lot of faffing about in the setup to make it an access point instead of just another router which would be pointless. I looked at about a dozen before & found one compact that had the AP mode which saves me a whole lot of hassle.
Edit. All set up in less then 5 minutes & it's working perfectly. Vodafone were going to charge me 4000huf (about £10) a month for a crappy signal booster. This AP will pay for itself in less than 2 months
Signal boosters are just designed to take people's money.
They also tend to halve the bandwidth & speed as the booster uses the router's radio. An AP is a whole new radio device & won't suck the bandwidth from the main router
After increasing electronic waste in the world by dropping support from older devices Microsoft has now decided to extend the transition period to Windows 11, but of course, for payment only.

It took me ages to choose our router, I ended up spending £300 on a Netgear Gaming Router Tri Band with WiFi 6, it lets me put gadgets on different "channels", I keep the laptop on a separate channel on the 6Ghz channel and everything else 5Ghz channel. I can also set up a separate channel for visitors, not really worth doing though as I usually get them out as soon as possible.
