@ Steve
You´re missing the point. Roger gave the impression in his interview that they could not release the album (when ready), because of a lack of promotion possibilies. This is clearly not true as I pointed out. It would have been different if he had said, "Yes we could release and promote it in Corana-Times, but we wanna do it the old school way". But that is not what he said. The artists I mentioned proove that it could be done. Please do not put words in my mouth I did not say. I never said The Cure must release the new album, because other artist do release an album. It was just proove that it could be done.
If they are already mastering the new album, the new songs should be ready within a couple of weeks. If they do not want to release the album "digital first" than of course it would take more time to produce the physical items. But I am sure the production of CD´s will start sooner than the permission to visit a live concert again (and if they stick to promote the album live in front of an audience on its release date than the release will be delayed even more). By the way it is actually not true, that the only people working now, are those in "key jobs". You can order online all kinds of consumer products (and not only products essential to live) across Europe/USA. And there are real people working in these warehouses making sure you are getting your product, even if their companies do not sell products essential to live.
I´ve read that it is possible that live concerts won´t be allowed until 2022. If they really stick to present it live immediately on its release date, than it could be another long wait. My guess: if the new album is indeed ready (in terms of production/mastering) soon and will not be released this year or early 2021, than it will probably never get released........
