Just in case you're travelling by train via Southern Rail...buses replacing trains for part of the journey if you're using the Brighton/Victoria line (and other bits and pieces).

My cunning plan is to drive to Gatwick and get the (unaffected) Gatwick Express - I've just booked short-term parking at the airport. I'm staying in London overnight.
Appreciate no-one knows me from Adam*, but I'd happily give lifts to anyone else affected.
* except andysabre, who I met yesterday with his lovely family to collect my ticket!

Unaffected my foot. Last Monday (25th June) I had tickets from Victoria to Gatwick (only valid on the 14:06 train). That train was cancelled & I had to quickly buy Gatwick Express tickets so I could still make the flight. Got on the train & 2 minutes before it was due to leave the announcer told a packed train that it had been cancelled & we all had to leg it over to the next platform to get the Brighton train that stopped at Gatwick. Southern (or anything connected with Govia) are not to be trusted.

Grim! I can't 'like' that. You're right of course - besides whatever bedlam there'll inevitably on the tracks, Gatwick Express are accepting Thameslink and Southern tickets, so it's going to be busy to say the least. But at least there's no bus replacement once you get as far as Gatwick...I can't face buses in this heat.
So I retract my 'unaffected', and replace it with 'scheduled to run'!

It was quite stressy at the time. The connection for the flight was close. I think the main point that's important to make is to leave loads of time if you're catching a flight anywhere to be on the safe side
I've been battling with the evils of Southern commuting for what feels like aeons, so this feels like 'situation normal' to me. Except bus replacements, which I draw the line at.
I'm just going to leave earlier than planned and drive as much of the journey as I realistically can. I've had to drive into central London a bit recently to take a family member to hospital up there and have found it ok with pre-booked parking, so I might even do that instead.

Indeed. FWIW, there's also the alternative of National Express coaches, which go from Victoria to Gatwick/Brighton/Worthing - seems to be fairly good availability seats-wise.

Influenced by steve's recent experience and despite my hardened commuter-train pain threshold, I'm going to avoid the train altogether, and drive up to Ealing from Sussex coast, park at the end of the Tube line and get the Tube in.
PM me if I can help anyone out.

I’m coming to Gatwick tomorrow, and have to go to London. Will there be problems with that?
And sunday... I’m going home by plane from Gatwick to Denmark. Is there problems with the transfer from London to Gatwick?
It’s most important that I know how to get from London to Gatwick sunday
In an ideal world there should not be a problem, but the trains in the UK are........ not the most reliable. If you're travelling during the day, then there should be alternative trains to get you where you're going (I assume Victoria). Just make sure you have plenty of time on the way back to Gatwick. If your train is cancelled, don't panic. Keep the tickets & you can arrange a refund within 28 days. Chances are your trains will be okay, but always best to have a plan B

I don’t really care much about the transfer from gatwick to London, because it’s tomorrow, and I therefore have plenty og time to reach Hyde Park hahaha
But I have a flight to catch the other way home on sunday...and I have to take the transfer all by myself - I KNOW i will get lost!!!
