There was a mass murder/stabbing frenzy on a reserve a few days ago. One of the perps is still at large. No happy ending here.
There’s so much crime and misery in these places (I’ve been to a few - developing world conditions in most of them). What is the solution? How can we prevent this Shirt from happening again?

Today an adult cis man came into the women's restroom/locker room (clearly labeled) at dance to help his young daughter change clothes. It was really weird because none of the women in there with me said anything. I asked this young woman near me if she was comfortable with it and she said, "Not really." None of us were comfortable asking him to leave, even though some of us were uncomfortable. So much going on there. I ended up telling the desk I was not OK with it.
Granted, the man was speaking French, but it's pretty safe to say he has at least a rudimentary understanding of English, enough so to read the signs. There are private changing stalls in the hallway next to the bathroom.
Dancers are pretty used to removing their clothes in front of other dancers (and a majority of male dancers are gay), but that's amongst colleagues for things like costume changes, not with Joe Schmo off the street.
Anyone here from France? Would this be considered normal and I'm just being a repressed American?

that's rough as mate. i'm all for equality blah blah blah, but i'm sure I wouldn't be happy if a man with a male appendage, or a person who identifies as not a "cis man" (or whatever, don't crucify me, or do, whatever) but has the male appendage, and more importantly the physical capacity and potential will, or drive, to force themselves upon my wife in a similar situation. EVERYONE needs to feel safe, not just some of everyone. I hope you and yours are and will be OK @notkristie .

Thanks for that, nausearockpig. It's nice to feel as if I'm not just being crazy. Kids these days (anyone under 30, lol) are so much less hung up about all that stuff, so I wasn't sure...

Yes everyone’s so Laissez-faire about everything until something they thought was “pft OK” happens to THEM, then it’s a big F deal…
There needs to be some sort of assurances made and if these can’t be made (which when it comes to free-willed individuals, can’t be made, obviously) then controls need to be put in place. For the safety of everyone not just certain pockets of society…

This! I would not want to share a dressing room with strangers who are equipped with male parts.
Not quite the same thing, but one of the most popular restaurants in my town has one washroom. Honestly, i don’t think I’ll ever get used to coming out of a stall and seeing a guy standing at the sink.

There are a fair # of restaurants, music venues, etc. here that have that kind of restroom setup, but it's often many stalls. It took me a few times to get used to that, but now I feel as long as I have a good door for restroom privacy, I'm OK with washing my hands by anyone. That being said, if you're not comfortable with it, you're totally entitled to feel that way! YMMV, but I think the choice for true privacy should be the default.

Yeah, the more I think about this I wish I had not frozen and had confronted him. There are frequently minors (young kids and teenagers) in that dressing room. Smacks of pedophilia in addition to general creepiness.
OK, I'm done second guessing and will put this to bed.

I’m definitely not used to it yet, but like (most) things I’ll grow accustomed to it. Sure glad there weren’t any urinals out in the open though!
