It was a beautiful day here yesterday for Memorial Day weekend, which marks the cultural start of summer, here. We took the ferry (or 2, because we missed making reservations for the free one) to Governors Island and walked around all day. The first picture is at the Wall Street pier in Lower Manhattan. I just liked the view of the old building dwarfed by the newer ones. The rest are from the island.
Strange. I got asked for my phone number for the second time in my life. I was wearing a ring on my ring finger (not my wedding ring since losing it last month), so I was very surprised. I was also at least a decade older than the guy. When I told him I couldn't he was very respectful and said he didn't realize I was married. We had bonded on the subway platform after two cops bolted up the stairs next to us and it startled us. We chatted a lot and got on the train together. I felt really awkward.

that's gold/adorable, not the part about you feeling awks....
It's always nice to be appreciated by random strangers to boost your ego I guess.

My car's in the shop being serviced so I asked my mate if I could use his for a couple of days. It's a mini Cooper & it's black! My first car ever was a mini 1275GT & I haven't driven a mini for well over 30 years now. So I've been having a lot of fun in this thing.
Shocking/ disturbing. I witnessed something pretty awful today. After a conversation with an assault line, I’ve decided the best course of action is to contact the police. Wish me luck, really not looking forward to this, but it’s the right thing to do.

I can only imagine. I am so sorry. Thank you for doing the right thing in a terrible situation.

Got a text from our friend/veterinarian who is cat sitting for us that her husband lost our keys. None of our friends or neighbors have another set. It will be between $385-$575 to have the locksmith take care of it. Argh.
