I wonder how long it will take before some grandgrandson of, let's say Han Solo or Luke, discover a forsaken planet in a galaxy far far away where the dinosaurs rules.
I'd prefer a spin off to the same tired rehash of the original films.
OK, mort, but honestly, who cares about how and who stole the blueprints of the Death Star? We all know how that ended.
What will be next? A film about the transportation of frozen Solo to Jabba's Palace in the Slave I? We didn't see that in the first place. How the Millenium Falcon was made? That would be interesting. One about the lonely days of Yoda in Dagobah? We don't know anything about that period, it could make a wonderful drama. A Tuskens raiders movie? they're tough guys, lot of action potential there. Maybe a Jawas one? They're funny little creatures. How about the Ewoks? They deserve it, they only got a lousy animation series and a couple of bad films in the eightes. A film about how Han Solo and Chewbacca met? Hey, wait a minute...
Luke standing on a beach, staring at the sea for thirty years ............ could be a song.
Maybe they could explain how they couldn't find Luke, I mean they had a map with a bit missing - was that missing bit protected by some cloaking device, was it painted green to make it look like something green? Didn't somebody think ..... hmmmm we've searched all the parts we have maps for, I wonder what's in that missing bit right in the middle?!

Wasn't R2D2 dormant the whole time? He had the rest of the map, whilst BB8 had the crucial part & that was the point R2 woke up.

Looking at the section of the map BB-8 had, it was for several systems in a 3-D perspective.. Given that the Republic may not have been overly focused on the Jedi (only the Resistance was (and it is a subset of the Republic not in great standing with the Republic govt) then the resources to search for Luke were gravely small... Hence why Poe was on Jakuu looking for a map rather than say searching what may or may not have been several systems.. I'd guess the implication is that the map wasn't for a slice of a world or even a whole desolate world that scanners would be able to search for one human sized heat signature - and presumably find.....

It's not about the end - yes we all know how that went, it's about the story of how they got to that point. It's added layers of story...
I know that ever since hearing Darth Vader say "There'll be no-one to stop us this time." in the beginning of Ep IV, I, and a lot of other fans wondered what he was talking about... Who exactly was trying to thwart them (yes the rebels, but the detail is what I'm after)? What did they actually & specifically do to stop the Empire's agents? How many times did they try to steal the Death Star plans? The questions are endless... It's great that you're satisfied with the OT and PT but some of us want more information from the fertile minds of the storytellers.
There's such a wonderful galaxy-full of opportunity of story-telling possible now that I look forward to many years of prequels, sequels and one-offs as long as they're true to the core of Star Wars (& as you know, to me, Ep VII is): Space Wizards & Laser Swords!, Good vs Evil, Strength through compassion.. etc...
I look forward to more well-crafted and well-presented continuations of the stories planted in episodes 4-6 in the years to come. I think that the massive bankroll and production factory that is Disney is perfectly positioned to create all these. I eat up the Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows, the comics and books (both Legends and canon) and I think that the excitement sparked by the sale of Lucasfilm to the MouseHouse is going to keep us in Star Wars gold for years to come. I hear there's talk of trilogies past Ep IX!
gongoro73 did you watch and enjoy the Clone Wars animated movie and show? That was made before GL sold out to MouseHouse..

Well, that's exactly my concern. I've seen a Samurai in the trailer of the new spin off. Is a space Samurai true to the core of Star Wars? I know that Kurosawa & The hidden fortress were main inspirations to GL, but a plain Japanese Samurai looks ridiculous to me... I don't know, I'm glad you like it but I don't. And that's ok. As I said several times, to me, it's just Disney foreseen endless amounts of money, nothing else. But I might be wrong. It's just my opinion.
No, I haven't seen the animated Clone Wars, I haven't read any comic book. Just the two triologies. Enough for me.

I womder how the samurai will be featured, whether he's someone brought in to fight the empire, or a local who is rising up with onlymthe weapons he has at hand.
I'm curious, and apologise if you have mentioned this before, but do you see the movies made by GL as the only true SW movies? What i mean by that is if GL had made VII, (& VIII & IX) would you be more open to them?
