Oh man... I'm so sorry but I can only see disney greed here.
I can see a Star Wars spin off that looks rather good. This is what Lucas should have done decades ago had he not been fiddling about and changing the films he'd already released. I don't care how many Bothans died for this one, I'm jolly well going to see it
IMHO, Lucas should have never sold SW to Disney, but it's just my opinion. I guess I don't care about Star Wars anymore.
Oooh. I do. It still remains ingrained in me from my childhood. Maybe Lucas should have kept it on, he had a big enough team to drive it, but his problem was the degree of micro managing. I'm glad he sowed the seed & I am glad that seed is harvested still to this day. One thing that he did make possible is that by creating a universe we only got to see a fraction of, other film makers can now open the doors to worlds & campaigns we never saw before. Not so worried about diznee to be honest. It's still run by the Lucas Film people who are probably glad they don't have to meet George every week & watch him draw red crosses on post it notes etc. This spin off is supposed to be set some time before episode IV, so I expect to get quite a bit of insight into the Rebellion & how it came to be. That & lots of lasers & space ships & stuff
My childhood memories are SW, too. I meant the 'new' Star Wars.
C'mon Steve, disney is evil.
I wouldn't say evil. They are just a big corporation who happen to have bought a franchise that was for sale & are trying to do what the fans actually want. I think that's okay.
Oh man... I'm so sorry but I can only see disney greed here.
Remember that ALL art, unless given to the audience for free by the artist, is by definition, a commercial enterprise. Surely no one believes that Disney bought the franchise (that GL sold for $4B - let's not forget that) out of the goodness of its corporate heart to preserve the legacy of the OT. Disney bought the SW franchise to make money, LOTS and LOTS of money.
There will be SW movies being churned out till after we are all stardust again - they may or may not be true to the OT and GL's original vision but fear not, they will continue to come out to help keep the mouse's pantry stocked with cheese - to think anything else is naive at best.
Too bad you didn't like the short, and likely will not like the new movie.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
Don't worry about me, I'm fine, I can live without new SW movies every year, there are thousand of other things that interest me. I know that Disney bought SW to make lots of money and NOTHING else. That's my complaint. They don't care about SW, they care about money. That's all.
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the whole majority of SW fans will sooner or later be pissed off and feed up with this nonsense spin off and new-movies-every-year plus merchandise-everywhere-in-any-form nightmare. Time will tell.
I'd prefer a spin off to the same tired rehash of the original films.
OK, mort, but honestly, who cares about how and who stole the blueprints of the Death Star? We all know how that ended.
What will be next? A film about the transportation of frozen Solo to Jabba's Palace in the Slave I? We didn't see that in the first place. How the Millenium Falcon was made? That would be interesting. One about the lonely days of Yoda in Dagobah? We don't know anything about that period, it could make a wonderful drama. A Tuskens raiders movie? they're tough guys, lot of action potential there. Maybe a Jawas one? They're funny little creatures. How about the Ewoks? They deserve it, they only got a lousy animation series and a couple of bad films in the eightes. A film about how Han Solo and Chewbacca met? Hey, wait a minute...
I wonder how long it will take before some grandgrandson of, let's say Han Solo or Luke, discover a forsaken planet in a galaxy far far away where the dinosaurs rules.
