i think Robert fired Perry back in 2005 and maybe, maybe he just felt it was time to put the record straight just a little before the end. No, Roger doesn't need help on stage for an additional keyboard player that is for sure.Neither Reeves needs someone to fil any gap,so is it our Bob a little tired and old who might need help on stage? Me sayin'. Or might someone will step out for a while during the Tour and they just brought him earlier to be on the right mood.Don't forget they will announce a US dates shortly after the EU ones. And Perry can play some keyboard notes, guitar and...bass as well or be a roadie as once he was (joking with this one). The perfect replacement if you ask me,a true CURE member through the years. Still believe he was the one who looked like Edward Scissorhands back in the day.
Especially 1992
Love you Teddy, happy you are back even if it will be just for a while.
Totally agree. I really truly think the one firing Robert felt bad about was Perry. Roger should not be intimidated by Perry (and he clearly is) and certainly Reeves isn't and sure doesn't have to be. There is room for all of them and totally agree about emergency purposes. COVID still floating around ( wilgy had a great point on that) in case someone gets ill. Perry is very versatile. And to clarify Roger only played 25 years total if my math is correct. Hired in 1987, left in 1990, rehired in 1994, fired in 2005 came back in 2011? =25 years? Not 30 Relax Rog.
i do not think that Roger is intimidated... i am more thinking about Perry's health... he do not looks good... may he is jus trying too fitting againd and is too concentrated.... but do not looks good
One important fact everyone seems to have forgotten is that Perry & Roger were let go at the same time. They are friends. Perry is friends with all the band in fact. This thread has gone a bit weird all because some smart ass in the twitters decided he'd tag Roger into a topic he knows sod all about & Roger does. I've seen people even suggest Roger has been derogatory about Perry. He hasn't. He answered a tweet honestly & maybe slightly ironically & (as has been pointed out in this thread) "Irony doesn't always translate online". Perry has definitely got a long (& good) history with the band. The fans like him & so does the band. Otherwise he'd not be chipping in on this tour.
I think he's aged quite well, looks quite trim. He's never really bounced around on stage and he certainly doesn't look unwell. It has been over 30 years since he first joined. I don't think he's a Covid spare either, there's a musical or personal reason to have him back.

My thoughts too. Just go back and watch Trilogy. The same on stage, just twenty years younger.

Having said it all I adore Perry always have always will. I'm glad he's back and they sound amazing! Truly. They never do anything half arse. It's all or nothing. My honey even said out of all of the concerts I've been to (and he's 63 so he's been to a lot) The Cure are tight, always sound great and they are spot on time always. I said to him and even when they had tech difficulties Robert came out with his guitar and played. Haha remember that? So glad Perry is back.

I remember at the time of the firings, someone posted something pretty terrible to Roger (but not to Perry), along the lines of "How do I apply for your job?" to which he replied quite understandably angrily something like "email at getf*cked@f*ckoff.com", or something like that.
What an awful thing to do.
Now we just need Pearl back in the band as a 7-piece ha ha...
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
