Always wanted it as a kid, but never had it. I only owned (not anymore) the 497 and some minor sets.
It's a classic. I had it, and it went out to the charity shop many many many years ago (yes, I'm still annoyed at myself, but how would I have known future-me would want it), with many other sets.
I've got a lead on one that's about 95% complete now. It's in the UK and I'm just figuring out the full cost. Fingers crossed.

I had a huge town full of houses, road plates, vehicles and all kinds of stuff in it, almost everything Lego released of classic town sets in the mid eighties, but my mother gave everything away (without my knowledge) at some point of my teen years. It still makes me mad. I use to dream about quite frequently.

I wish there was a “I have that same feeling, dislike” button!

I managed to secure that ~95% complete 928 set this morning. Now I need to "patiently" wait for it to be shipped from The Isle of Wight to come here. Sad face.
Shouldn't actually be too long I reckon. The 8860 which I got from another UK resident was shipped about two days ago and is now cleared customs here and in the local (terrible) Australia Post system.
Man, I'm gonna have the mega-nostalgia-feels when I build 8860 and 928......
Can.
Not.
Wait.
gongoro73 If you're looking to get a 928, the best time was yesterday. They're going up and up in price cos of 10497 being released and old guys like me (us?) getting the nostalgia bug and buying them up. A few months ago, they were topping out at $280-320AU, now they're going for 400-500. I even saw one on eBay this week go for $700AU. It was in nice condition though!

My 95% complete 928 arrived yesterday. It's in a "very played with" condition, which suits me fine. I had a look at Bricklink yesterday and to complete it and replace a couple of broken parts will cost me about $60 including postage, so that's not too bad.
My "complete" 8860 from eBay arrived last week and it's taken me this long to get to clean and look at all the pieces... The damn thing's less than 80% complete, so I contacted the seller and let him know, he's gonna either refund me the cost of the replacement parts - $50, or just order the parts for me. Should hear back soon from him, but now of course comes more waiting. Sigh. Annoyingly, of course, when I was having my "20%-parts-missing" problem, another actual complete one pops up on eBay for what I paid for mine. Sigh. BIG SIGH.

When I got home the other night, this new Lego set was on the catchall bench. Since there's no school today due to the election, it is being built right now.
