Dontcha just love midweek games?
Hot on the heels of a late victory at the weekend, Chelski condemned Norwich to the relegation zone giving them their best PL position since the opening day.
Ranieri’s boys looked to be feeling the pressure, dropping 2 points at home as a Messi-esque free kick from Gardner left Kasper stranded.
The sea-side derby saw the Saints go marching in defeated at Dorset neighbours Bournemouth.
Villa continued their efforts at emptying their stadium early, as fans staged a 74th minute walk out which ironically caused them to miss their team’s only goal of the game & Palace, within seconds of their first win in eleven games, took pity on Sunderland who nicked a last minute equaliser, lifting them out of the drop zone.
After losing the league cup to Man City, Liverpool meted out swift revenge with a comfortable win which pleased Klopp no end, but not quite as much as when he learned Bayern had been beaten too.
Title “challengers” Arsenal & Spurs both squandered chances to capitalise on Leicester’s draw while Stoke continue their climb, plunging Newcastle deeper into trouble & a single Mata goal was enough to secure all three points over Watford.
After a very close GW27, the story in the FPL was very different for GW28 with the IGM victorious by a massive 112 points to leave them 330 in front overall.
iesus’ Meteora Heartland FC remain settled in the Yellow Jersey with Johnny Rev 7.0's FC Bennweg-Zeis 1921 taking the Big Shout Out with a sturdy 64 points.
The IGM’s success was echoed in the H2H league too, as they pulled off a 27 - 6 win, but the EIB still hold a 26 point advantage overall.
The crown stay in Greece with iesus’ Meterora Heartland FC sitting pretty once again.
So, at breakneck speed, we hurtle into GW29 where the big match will be the North London Derby as Spurs & Arsenal try to claw back the gap.
The pitch at the Stadium of Faith has recovered somewhat & the carpet patches have been returned to the shed where they are hiding some odd stains which I firmly believe are from snakebite & blackcurrant spillage.
But I am picking up some luminol later to make sure it isn’t blood.
So I think we’re all set now. Welcome all to your GW 29 thread.
