Only a couple of weeks until the Bowie Prom at the Albert Hall - line up was confirmed today, it's the stargaze collective with vocals from:
Marc Almond Paul Buchanan John Cale Anna Calvi Philippe Jaroussky Laura Mvula Conor O’Brien Amanda Palmer
Looking forward to it. If you're in the UK and you get the opportunity then I really recommend Adam Buxton's Bug Bowie tribute which is a real labour of love.
Meh, everything on that has been re-released and repackaging loads of times already. If they could find "Too Fat Polka", "Lazer" and "Shilling The Rubes" to put on it then I'd be all over it!
Live from the Royal Albert Hall Stuart Maconie introduces a celebration and reinterpretation of the music of David Bowie with the Berlin-based, genre-defying musicians' collective s t a r g a z e and its Artistic Director André de Ridder. They are joined by guest singers and collaborators - including Jherek Bischoff, Anna Calvi and Amanda Palmer - to re-imagine the Bowie catalogue with fresh settings of classic works.
To complement the David Bowie Prom, a chance to hear David Bowie recorded at the Milton Keynes Bowl in August 1990, as part of his Sound+Vision greatest hits tour. Presented by Chris Hawkins.
That tour was something special, especially the first leg with Carlos and the larger band - it was the last time he really pushed into something different..
Only 2 days until the big Bowie weekend - he's going to be all over the BBC (radio and television). The Last Five Years documentary already looks so promising and there's a bunch of stuff on 6 music that also looks worth checking out.
I'm off to Lazarus on Saturday and the celebration gig at Brixton on Sunday, already got my Tin Machine shirt out and ready to rock
