Here's a topic to discuss our guitars, effects, amps and everything between and around our guitars. Feel free to post pics of your gear, and maybe samples of your recorded works.. Or not, whatever.. I'll start:
I play a 2013 USA Fender Stratocaster - She's Olympic White with a rosewood fretboard and is just lovely. I use D'Addario 10-46 Nickel Wound strings, Jim Dunlop 1.0 plectrum.
My effects chain is: Boss TU-3 tuner > Crybaby Wah > Boss DD-3 Digital Delay > Boss DS-2 Turbo Distotion > Boss PH-2 Phaser > Boss AW-3 Auto Wah > Mooer Slow Engine > Boss BF-2 Flanger > Boss CH-1 Super Chorus. These are all powered by a Boss PSU which will one day be replaced by a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 Plus. I will replace my Boss DS-2 with a Crowther Hotcake when I have a spare $260 or can find a cheap one (yeah right!!).
I play a Marshall VS100 combo and have a Peavey Rage 10W practice amp.
My backup electric (for a live scenario if I ever leave my studyio) is a Chinese Fender Squier Strat in Olympic White with a rosewood fretboard.
I also have a Yamaha RBS260 bass guitar and a 1971(?) Fender Bassman 100w head and 4 X12 quadbox in a reverse pyramid configuration (sounds like the sound comes from the middle of the speaker box).
I have an el cheapo Fender acoustic - a DG-10 maybe, and a five dollar nylong string guitar that i fixed up.
Happy to post pics if anyone wants.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
I'm really annoyed at the sound of the DS-2, I just can't seem to find a fat, thick sound with it... nor does it have a crunchy sound that cuts thru... If anyone comes across a Crowther Hotcake cheap at a music store, let me know immediately...

What recording program do you use for the home demos?
Audacity. It's free and it's excellent. I use a Shure SM58 mic into an M-Audio M-Track USB I/O interface.
Boss pedals have been around for a loooong time and are a "standard" in a lot of guitar and bass players' set ups. A lot of people say they suck a lot of tone but I've never found this.. I think people like to spend, or say they spend, lots of money on boutique pedals as a way of showing off and implying how they are a better breed of guitarist or whatever... sigh.... Basically if your music sucks, no amount of fancy pedals will make it good - but in saying that the flip side to that is that good gear is easier to use and makes your sounds better. Example: I have a USA Stratocaster (as in the pic) and a backup Made In China Fender Squier Stratocaster - to the uninitiated they are identical, but the US strat is better to play, sounds nicer and just feels better... Same goes for amps and pedals and the like; there's a standard that you should not go below, doing so hinders you. Had I known this when I first picked up a guitar, I would've bought myself a US Strat straight up (& maybe that Gibson Flying V I saw in that shop sooo many years ago for $1200) and been a lot better off... oh well..
I remember that Robert has said that (in the 80s) when he got his pedals he liked the way the colours of the Boss pedals looked and would basically turn them all on at 12 o'clock not really worrying about the settings.. that's probably a slight exaggeration or throwaway comment but it's true about the colours - they look RAD!
