Have you seen what they look like when they are in the southern hemisphere in the summer?
The concert in Rio de Janeiro... I remember Robert saying "Está muito calor..." (it´s very hot) before a few songs. Aaw Poor man. It was unbearably hot that day in 1996. Still, it was an amazing and unforgettable concert. But their concert in Rio in 2013 took place in an arena with air conditioning (HSBC arena), which they didn´t suffer as much.
out of curiosity (and I'll admit that I haven't read all 35 pages of this thread...) why do people think that this is going to be the last big tour for The Cure? They're only in their mid-50s and as 1960s bands are showing us, you can do massive tours well into one's 70s. Couple that with the fact that every tour is the "last one according to RS", why would this be any different? It sounds like they've got a record in the works and are going to flog it on the road for a while like they do with every record. Why are people worried that this is the last go around?

Well my 2 cents would be that it doesn't appear to be in support of an album, yet it's the 4th biggest tour that the band have ever done after Wish, Swing and Prayer in that order. If three more concerts are added it will be the third biggest. They've never undertaken anything so large before for no apparent reason, plus I can't see Robert happy to do the dinosaur circuit.
Something is in the works and there's no word of an album. What else would warrant such a large scale tour?
Wot he said ^^^^^ I think the sheer scale of the tour has taken everyone a bit by surprise really & talk of a "last hurrah" is purely speculation. The supposition is that such a massive journey is significant. Yep, a new album is one possibility, but so is a final stand (let's hope it's the former). But 73 dates suggests something is looming. Personally (again just my observation) I don't see Robert wanting to fall into the same basket as the Stones or Aerosmith etc. & do the ageing rock star thing. Tyler should have packed it in decades ago & Jagger should never have started I think Bob would rather call it a day & retire gracefully.
I really do still think there's an album. I also don't think this is a last hurrah just that I can't see them doing anything on this scale again. this is the biggest tour for 12 years? in 10 years they will be retirement age. something of this size will be beyond them then.
