I'm happy it's a beautiful day here but I'm also feeling so sad for the people on the west coast because of the fires.
I lived in southern Oregon for a spell over 20 years ago, and my dance mentor still lives there in the mountains. She told me how many of their friends have been displaced due to evacuations or have lost their homes.
How much more can people take this year? It's hard to understand how the universe can seem to cruel right now, even though I know that's not how things work.
There's got to be a better place to post this...Like 2016 reissues maybe, but, you know?, I don't know how to search for existing threads... So maybe I feel pleasantly suprised with my restraint today?...I popped into HMV..something that I just do not do. And there were these re-issues..now I'm sure that you lot have them all..(the 2016 Robert Smith remasters) and the £13 price tag on 'em was just way too tempting..till you do the total and wonder can I really go spending £80 on a load of records that I have absolutely loved since the day each one was released (Ok..poetic liscence there...I only found the Cure in '84 so a few days after some of 'em were released but ya know?) You know what I'm saying...I absolutely never play Head on the Door (or any other) and think 'ach I could sure use a crisper snare drum there'...or 'if only that guitar was sharper this would be a good record!...Nope I play my Cure records and think 'what an amazing band' So why the hell would I suddenly be wanting to spend a heap of dollar that I could instead spend on records that I've not got! It was the £13 price tag...That was so tempting. I got home and read the reviews and each one was saying 'buy these remasters they are amazing!' I didn't want to read that. I wanted to read 'load of rip off rubbish', but no...waaaaay better than the originals is what they are saying.
So..ok..I'm sticking with my muddy originals and I'll be spending the £80 on the wine order that goes with 'em.
You lot gonna have these for sure I know, but if not go to the HMV website they got 'em cheap. Anyone neeeds HOTD let me know, I think that this one's out of stock on the website but they've got it in the Lancaster HMV..thing is, I can't get to town now till, maybe a couple of weeks...So no promises (not after last time : )
Whoever wrote the reviews is deaf. The original pressings are way better than the remasters. By a long chalk. The RMs have been compressed to death. Enjoy your wine listening to the best possible masters of your beloved The Cure records.

Now that's what I wanted to hear,
Ahhh you just made a heavy heart feel so much lighter...cheers Steve : )
In-person instruction was delayed by another week for our son yesterday. This resulted in an email this morning from his teachers (whom he's met in our new computer-generated reality) which used language referring to the students "working from home" next week. For a 7-year-old, really?
This makes me want to move to the woods and dress in animal hides.

All sounds very organised.....NOT.
Having worked for the NYC DOE, none of this surprises me, of course. They couldn't plan their way out of a wet paper sack. I just want my kid to have some sense of normalcy and routine and be learning (more than I can muster trying to do triple duty teaching him).
Old. Finally the time has come to get reading glasses. Been for an eye test today & my left eye is pretty fcuked
Uncle Neil has a message for you:
This was the tour Sonic Youth opened. In Portland, the fred/dead heads were literally running out of the arena with their hands on their ears when SY started beating on their guitars with screwdrivers during Xpressway to Yr Skull. It was awesome. In Seattle, the ghost of Jimi Hendrix possessed Neil during the encore of Tonight's the Night. I have proof on tape. I know how you feel about Neil but it is better to burn out than fade away!
