Feeling weird.. My employment will be terminated because there are no new projects for me due to coronavirus. All our customers either postponed projects to next year or cancelled them at all. I still have time to find a new job until the end of October, but looking around I see so many companies with a hiring freeze. Feeling weird because I have never been without a job before..
So sorry to hear that, hope you're able to find something soon!

I’m so sorry to hear this news. Let’s hope you’ll find a new employer soon!
This past Monday I went for a massage. As my regular therapist was unavailable, I booked with a young therapist that I’ve seen a few times. While she was massaging me, she told me about all the partying she’s done with her friends this summer and how she was sick all weekend with diarrhea and nausea. So like 24 hours before seeing me she was ill. 😯Again let me stress that she did not disclose anything about being ill until about 30 minutes into the massage. Needless to say, I’m not terribly impressed with her and I’m thinking of being re-tested for Covid in the next few days. I’m also debating informing her boss of what happened, but I don’t want to stir up drama. I’m very concerned though that she ‘could’ be spreading her whatever she has to a whole bunch of her clients, so I don’t think I have much of a choice other than to inform her boss...
Ugh
There are so many things I dislike about your massage therapist’s behavior. By all means feel free to speak to her boss. What an idiot. I’m sorry you had to suffer through that. Edited to say I see you did email her boss. Good. She gives massage therapists a bad name. Which I can’t abide.
I was wondering what you’d think of this! Initially, I was just grossed out by her comments, while she touched me all over (Including my face!) using her diarrhea hands! ! ! Then I started to think about all the people should could have potentially came into contact with...
Anyway, her boss emailed me back and said that she’d address the issue with the therapist. I guess I did all I could do ?

Well, her behavior was pretty egregious. I know that in Canada massage therapy is even more highly regulated than it is here in NY (one of the two most rigorous states in training and regulation for LMTs in the US, FL shockingly being the other). If her behavior was such that it violated the regulating body's requirements for practicing massage therapists, there's always reporting her conduct to that body. But I don't pretend to know what they rules are in Canada.
I also hate the fact she was talking to you at all about her personal life, frankly. It's not about her and there shouldn't be chatter. The client / patient and their objective(s) should be the only focus of treatment. She's not a friend or a counselor (some massage therapists seem to feel they want to play in that arena, which is no good) and it's not a social call. The more she is quiet, the less talking during a session, the better her work, and your experience, will be.

Oops! My soapbox just caved in!
I think for her it’s definitely a bit of a social call - she’s quite young, about 23 and has A LOT to say. I just sort of grunt or give two-word replies. I don’t mind a bit of chatting at the beginning of my appointment, but after a couple of minutes I want to focus on my breathing.
Btw - what’s the deal with Florida ? 🙂 I’ve been there a lot, and quite like it, especially the Keys !

I have no idea what the deal is with Florida, lol. If I could answer that, I could solve a lot of problems for people. FWIW, it's totally acceptable for you to tell any massage therapist, at any time, "I'm really feeling like I want to check out / tune into my body during the session, so I'm going to be quiet, now." It sounds like it's not that big a deal to you, but as both a practitioner and someone who receives massage, silence is golden™.

Ah Danielle where to start about Florida, specifically Florida man. Daily, you can find a story with headline "Florida man....". Here's a good primer for you below. I think a lot depends on where you are in the state. The Keys are something entirely different than the Redneck Riviera (panhandle). Hope you get a giiggle out of the following.

Very unhappy. I have a dental appointment in a few hours and I absolutely loathe going to the dentist. After spending many many MANY hours in the chair ( had braces for like 1000 years) I just cannot stand being in ‘the chair’. Yes when it comes to this matter I am an adult-sized infant. 😬
Not good...Lockdown ended, I opened a shop, I took on new students, some previous healthcare classes re opened, just back to pedal to the metal again...I used to have what they called manic depression back then, they call it bi polar these days but I prefer the old term..It fits better..I get manic (in a positive way) and then I crash (in a positive way) - And I just didn't even know that RSD was happening until it had been and happened. And so I'm feeling bad that I told folk months ago that I'd be able to get Bloodflowers for you and now I've gone and not done!

I'm so sorry...

I would hope nobody would hold a grudge against you about that due to the times we're living in (not to mention the fact they're picture discs ). Everyone has 1,000 times more than usual on their plate, just from a mental adjustment / grief standpoint given all that's going on.
