Riot Fest's decision to schedule Weezer and the Cure in the same headlining time slot was a near-criminal offense, but at least the Cure began their set before Weezer, allowing ambitious attendees to see the first 40 minutes of the Cure before heading over to hear the Blue Album. The Cure did not cater to these festival nomads, however. Quite the opposite — the early portion of their concert was full of older album cuts. No well-known tracks were performed during that time, although those who chose to stick around for the whole set were eventually treated to gems like "Lovesong," "Boys Don't Cry," and "Close to Me."
That is seriously the funniest review i've ever read. He might not wanna liken Robert to Liza Minnelli in my presence though, if he likes his meat and 2 veg where they currently are...

hahah... clearly he didn't go in with an open mind, and didn't know any songs apart from those three.. which in the end is possibly how a lot of us would go to another band's show.. I mean, if I went to a Metallica show, I would be bored out of my mind, but I would lose my mind with happiness at a TOOL show (which I have done several times) but many people would be bored..
I respect the fact he intended to attend the show and try to appreciate it, but by the tone of the review, he didn't really have it in him. He shoulda sat on YouTube for an hour or two first and then he'd have known what he was in for..
I'm glad he doesn't like them though, I wouldn't want a wanker like him liking a band I love!
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!

from the review:
There’s always been something inherently lame about being a Cure fan and the culture that comes with it—the melodramatic sorrow, the introspective misery, the special pain. But clearly, there’s something to it since everyone has that one friend who is really into The Cure. Maybe the problem is on me—there’s something I’m overlooking or not understanding. So this weekend at Riot Fest in Chicago, I decided to throw myself into the fire that is The Cure. I was going to force myself to watch The Cure’s entire set. All two hours and 15 minutes of it, from 7:45 to 10 PM.
Talk about melodramatic sorrow, the guy's upset the concert is too long? Oh, how horrible for him. A band that actually plays for the fans, and not just the paycheck they got.
This walking popped pimple then walked over to Weezer, tiring of waiting for The Cure's entire 2:15 (and proving he lied in his review and must have checked the total concert time from some other source), goofus is ready to hear Weezer but wait:
No. Another song I’ve never heard.
Let's just face the fact that this guy hasn't heard of anything and only was interested in finding "places to poop" (see his Riot Fest map if you think I'm making that up).
I don't hate people, but I sincerely hope this "reviewer" fell through his portapottie seat into a deep cesspool, where he will bubble for the next 10 million years and be recycled into petroleum. Finally, he will be useful to others.

That made me laugh again!
But don't hold back so much, tell us how you feel!

I love the last para:
"I pass by The Cure’s stage and they are still performing. Whatever decades-old melancholy song they’re playing perfectly soundtracks the bummer mood I’m in as I leave the festival and head back to my hotel. I....... I had my heart broken. I had something I loved taken away from me and replaced with disappointment and OH MY GOD. Hold on. Wait a minute. I think… I think I finally understand The Cure."
