Hahah yeah. That was awful. I would’ve preferred if Porl played guitar and keys as the song required in it’s original form, but even so many songs would be lacking. It just didn’t work for me.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
I've never heard a worse guitar solo than the 4Tour rendition of "A Letter to Elise". Even a chihuahua chewing up guitar strings sounds better.
OOOOoooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh. Going to look that up, now.
It's on the Sunrise 2008 visit (from cure-concerts.de):
13.06.2008 Sunrise - BankAtlantic Center (USA/FL) plainsong, prayers for rain, alt.end, a night like this, the baby screams, the end of the world, lovesong, a letter to elise, want, pictures of you, lullaby, maybe someday, the perfect boy, from the edge of the deep green sea, sleep when i'm dead, push, friday i'm in love, inbetween days, just like heaven, primary, never enough, the only one, signal to noise, one hundred years, disintegration, E1: if only tonight we could sleep, the kiss, E2: freakshow, close to me, why can't i be you?, E3: boys don't cry, jumping someone else's train, grinding halt, 10.15 saturday night, killing an arab, E4: a forest *thanks to November Trilogy, Cat, Heron & chainofflowers.com for the setlist*

I don't mind either, but Reeves at the top there is the best of the modern lineups.
Nope, the Sunrise 2008 rendition sounds like Cat Scratch Fever
Can't hear Porl enough in that clip but it's not that far from how he played it back in the day. Whole song is being played far too slow though and Robert's hardly bringing his A game. Didn't like the 2016 take with all that Roger treacle on it, 92 is still best!

I was listening to the San Jose show and noticed the running time was about 3 hours:
28.05.2008 San Jose - HP Pavilion at San Jose (USA/CA) plainsong, prayers for rain, fascination street, the perfect boy, the blood, the end of the world, lovesong, to wish impossible things, pictures of you, lullaby, catch, hot hot hot!!!, the only one, a strange day, sleep when i'm dead, push, doing the unstuck, inbetween days, just like heaven, a letter to elise, from the edge of the deep green sea, shake dog shake, wrong number, one hundred years, disintegration, E1: at night, m, play for today, a forest, E2: freakshow, close to me, why can't i be you?, E3: boys don't cry, jumping someone else's train, grinding halt, 10.15 saturday night, killing an arab
It occurs to me that while I have had unkind comments about Porl's instrumentals on this 4Tour, the fact is that he was willing to stand out there for 3 hours each night. I think Robert wanted to do 4 hour shows and had to coax the band into doing three encores just about every night. So thanks to the band for indulging Robert's obsession with giving us as any songs as possible!
(To be catty, I would not have minded if Porl had done half the songs and they had the keyboardist Roger O'Donnell sub on the other half to keep the 4tour format)
I found the way to get through these 2008 shows was to start putting them on my phone.
Let's face it, none of the songs are going to be harmed from that tour by being listened to through one speaker, anyway. In this case, 'World Cafe Radio Session-10-05-2008' will be my music at work this week. :-)

Last night I closed out my final 2008 audience recording (by someone named Nikres). The 2008-06-18 Wolstein Center, Cleveland show had a familiar encore close out of At Night, M, A Forest, 1015 Saturday Night, and Killing Another.
This Sunday morning I am wearing my blue 4Tour t-shirt, enjoying some coffee I ground and taking in my two daughters.
My second daughter was born in an SUV in a parking lot last week, en route to the hospital. My neighbor's wife was doctor and midwife and delivered her in front of a hot dog stand. Bizarre enough to be the subject of an early Cure song, perhaps.
Today my Cure family is in my mind and I'm ready to hear the handful of 2009 shows that were recorded. Enjoy your Sunday!
