We should burn every single vinyl record on earth and all the people who buy them. They are the evil of this world.
The thing is, they're not evil. If people want to by them then there's nothing wrong with that. If people want to make them, there's nothing wrong with that either. The only evil that lies within the whole scheme of things are the corporate behemoths who block book all the pressing capacity so smaller artists find it nearly impossible to get a look in & then charge customers an arm & a leg for something that's currently seen as popular or fashionable. Quality concerns aside, it's (& this is hard to disagree with) the consumer who is effectively getting fleeced. I personally think that's unfair & I'm quite surprised more vinyl buyers aren't being more vocal about that.
For her forthcoming album, Billie EIlish will be releasing a limit of 8 variants of vinyl through her website as well as all major retailers including.......
In the 80's variant releases had different mixes or cover art or were on the various media formats. It made collecting them all difficult but at least there was new music to be had or a spiffy picture.
