I've just seen this and it could save those of you with not much vinyl a lot of money. Now you can make all your pristine digital audio sound just like a 19th century relic for free
The only reason why people prefer vinyl over digital is that humans don't have very good hearing. Our ears are too bad to appreciate high res. digital. Some people are still brave in their statements that wav sounds better than flac, interconnects influence sound, power cables matter, storage media matters, etc. It's all placebo hearing. I sold all my remaining vinyl on a flea market for ridiculously low price cause I didn't want to wait for weeks for some dude to evaluate them in the only record shop that accepts used vinyl. And selling them online and posting would've been too time consuming.
One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain So hit me with music, hit me with music

I think the Stones new record had about 40 vinyl variations. Eesh.
Yep
The Rolling Stones released at least 43 variants of their 2023 album Hackney Diamonds with different coloured LPs and different artwork – although each version contained the same track list.
Quite why there is so much nostalgia associated with vinyl is something of a mystery to me. It's not as if anyone buying it is likely to watch films on a CRT, is it?
I'll assume vinyl fans have OLED's and it hasn't occurred to them that their thinking is not rational.
It would be so perfect If you would just fall out the window
i think it's a combination of nostalgia and liking to have something physical in your hands. also, i've heard people say that they don't like that streaming can pull the music at any time and they like having it themselves. i also like that it's a good revenue stream for the artist. they don't get sh*t from streaming so i like that i can support my favorite artists this way.
The artists don't make that much from physical sales. Not after paying for recording, mastering, pressing, printing, marketing, distribution etc. Then the publisher takes a big chunk, as does the record company. By the time everyone's nibbled a bit off the profit, there's surprisingly not much left. Artists make more from playing concerts & selling merchandise.

Bought a new record player about 5 years ago following all the hype. Played Pornography, put the fluff from the needle in the hamsters cage. Not played it since
Record sleeves are nice to look at though and don't usually come with weird folds like cd inserts do. If cds came in 12" packaging I could get behind that.
I actually have 1 already, "and I want more".
