I got my son a new laptop recently and it has windows 8. It keeps flipping back constantly to an annoying 'desktop' with loads of links on it to buy stuff etc... when all he wants is the normal desktop he's used to. It drives me mad whenever I go on there to help him with anything. I've heard others complain about that too.
The corporate world, mostly, still is a Windows workplace. I HAD to have Windows 7 and had to uninstall Word 2013 and buy Word 2010 for my new job...I guess it's just too expensive to overhaul it and if you are on a platform that hasn't been updated in ages..then you are stuck. That being said, I had a Surface with 8 on it and it was fine..did the job, but some applications, like your son's Maz, needed to be launched from the desktop while others could be launched from the tiles. Either or. And some worked both ways. Not very integrated. Now..I have a new iPad Air... My first Mac product and I must say I am in love! My desktop and laptops are all PC...never had issues whatsoever and the price was perfect. But this thing..man.. It is just intuitive. Anyway, I am not surprised about Windows 7 making a comeback...

Here in Brazil, the Windows 8 not picked up, most people who purchased and installed did not like it, but the stores insist on selling it as aggregate product in PCs and Notes. Each of us has a reaction the first time I saw it already hated. If I could I would use MAC only, but these machines are very expensive here, can cost 6-10 times more than a good PC depending on configuration. I want to buy a Mac book Pro this year.
At night...I hear the darkness breathe...I sense the quiet despair...Listen to the silence...At night...Someone has to be there...
That was a good one as well. People don't want silliness and something that doesn't work!
No need to miss XP if you work where I do! We're still on it! With IE 6! Amazing

Still has people that use Windows 98 here on Brazil, sincerely I don't know what they can do with his work. I think they are blind walking by the darkness!
