u2lemonman ... I'm very surprised I haven't mentioned the Manchester City owners flew Oliver over to Cheatland to referee, and gave him £20,000 pocket money, he should not be allowed to officiate any Manchester City games, better still, he shouldn't be allowed to take charge of any game!!

Anthony Joshua - "Just like Oasis it's time to give up"
Totally agree especialy on Oasis
I swear the whole crowd cringed when that Gallagher started croaking down the mic', it was awful!! I did Charlie's homework to escape the noise - now I have to see the headmaster !!
Okay Rodri is pretty good, but, why does the absence of one player have the media predicting doom for Manchester City?? Isn't Guardiola the inventor of football, don't they have the best squad in the world?? Arsenal won at Tottenham without Rice or Odegaard, drew at City without Odegarard and a player sent off. City should be able to cope without Rodri.

Of course they'll cope. But the media is a clicks based business & need to make things seem more serious than they are to get those clicks. That's why there are more pieces in the media about the red Mancs than any other team for example. They know they'll get ten thousand times more clicks than if they write a dozen stories about Brentford or the south coast scum. Layer some doom on the story, no doubt fuelled by FFP FC's press office who have been instructed to make a mountain out of a mole hill & hey presto! Speculative nonsense from pundits who aren't actual journalists. On the plus side for FFP FC, it takes their disciplinary hearing out of the spotlight. It's all confected. Trick is not to bite.
steve like the media is now full of stories about clubs writinfg to the PGMOL to complain about Arsenal's "Dark Arts" !!
That term was a soundbite from Bernardo Silva. Nothing more. & look at how it's being framed. I can confidently say that nothing of the sort is happening. It's all for clicks & is a complete non story. Today's big market is stirring anger & that's not exclusive to footy by the way. But that's a different conversation. The more angry they get people, the more attention & clicks they get. Don't bite. That's exactly what they want & that drives even more clicks. It's a load of nothing.

This is City trying to shift the spotlight off themselves and all those charges.

Yep. & it's working. Ignore it. It's a waste of energy that is better spent enjoying stuff you enjoy. I watch a game. I moan about the ref, the assistant ref(s) &, come the final whistle, I just get on with whatever I want because what I think won't change a thing. It's just not worth getting riled up about.

You don't have a daughter who repeats everything she sees on social media and hisses at Sky Sports News every time Arsenal are criticised ......

No I don't. But I'd wager media companies have focus groups that give them that exact same feedback so they know where to stir up discord & anger. They are the real villains & parent should let their kids know that too. Like I said, it's all confected to drive clicks.
James Maddison apparently telling Bruno Fernandes it wasn't a red card, just a yellow is laughable - if Maddison hadn't done his usual trick of hitting the deck screaming after minimal contact a yellow would probably have been issues. On the other hand, Fernandes saying "people kick me with no red" is just as laughable, he is a Portuguese Maddison, falls over when a butterfly flaps its wings in Australia.
