@notkristie they’d definitely hire a Pamela Anderson clone, but the ones that ‘make it’ don’t really look like that. Pamela’s look Is probably considered too processed looking, but she’d be ‘good enough’ to serve those chicken wings. That said, TBH, I don’t know what kind of look is considered ‘in’ nowadays though…

That’s terrible, Danielle . This conversation starts to remind me that Twin Peaks perfume section where Laura Palmer used to work.
It’s a bit of a downer, isn’t it ?
(never seen an episode of Twin Peaks btw!)
Just the fact that a business like that it exists I find it depressing. The whole idea and everything behind it is depressing. Starting with the name, that really sounds (at least from a foreign point of view) very close to a word wich puts those women in a very specific category. Then, all those stuff you mentioned (flirting with the customers, a starting point from there to a modeling career…) it sounds like something from a world I hope it disappear as soon as possible.
Twin Peaks is great, but it has a terrible second season after Lynch left that makes it really hard to watch for the first time, I guess. But when Lynch came back… oh boy….

I agree with you 100%! When I was young, working at one of those establishments was like wearing a badge of honour. Working there meant a) you were desirable (I vomited in my mouth a bit from writing that ) b) you were gorgeous and c) there was a possibility of becoming famous. I really hope that this practice has faded (hell, this happened 20 years ago), but honestly I have no idea whether it has.
Btw - years ago, I had a friend who worked at Hooters. Apparently, the tips weren’t great, but because she was an aspiring model, she viewed working there as a stepping stone to a career in the modelling industry.
Er, that's as much of a stepping stone to a career in modeling as microwaving a Hot Pocket is to becoming a chef.
It's all about how you doctor the hot pockets & other frozen foods. Think hot sauce! Lots of hot sauce!

You really need to watch everything related to Twin Peaks. czuczu & gongoro73 are bigger experts than me but I loved the whole thing. The "got a light" episode from season 3 was perhaps the best episode of a tv series ever.

"Fire Walk with Me" was good too. FBI agent David Bowie!
Whether my travel credits will be extended, as they’re set to expire pretty soon. Guess I should get on that and send them an email! Btw - I tried calling the airline directly, but the queue was up to, get this FIVE hours long!

Surely, given the fact nobody could travel for ages, they have to extend them

We are talking big corporations here. I lost some miles from Alaska Airlines (who since their big merger with Virgin have gotten bad. Is a pity, since both used to be decent) & MGM Grand hotels.
