Pet Shop Boys to announce North American tour, ‘Electric’ release details next week
24 April 2013
The Pet Shop Boys today revealed that the final mix of their new Stuart Price-produced album Electric is due to be finished by week’s end and that full details of the record, including the final tracklist and release date, are scheduled to be announced next Tuesday — along with the duo’s full North American tour itinerary. In March, the Pet Shop Boys surprised fans with news they already were nearing completion on the follow-up to 2012′s Elysium. Not much is known yet about the new album, aside from a 44-second promo video that hints at a far more dancefloor-friendly affair than the relatively downbeat Elysium. Also, the record will include a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Last to Die.” Watch for full details on the release and tour next week.

As promised, the Pet Shop Boys today announced full details of their forthcoming album Electric — the second release from Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant in less than a year — and revealed the itinerary for a month-long, 19-date tour that will bring the duo back to North America for the first time in four years this September and October. The group also debuted the video for “Axis,” the album’s opening track, due out digitally today. Produced by Stuart Price, Electric is due out July 15 worldwide on PSB’s new label x2 through Kobalt Label Services. The 50-minute album features eight original songs and a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Last to Die,” plus an appearance by British singer/rapper Example on the song “Thursday.” In a statement on their website, Tennant and Lowe say: “Our latest album often evolves as a response to our previous album and, whereas Elysium had a reflective mood, Electric is pretty banging! And working with Stuart Price on a studio album is something we have wanted to do for a very long time.” The Pet Shop Boys’ North American tour follows previously announced dates in Europe and the Far East, and opens Sept. 12 in Miami Beach, Fla., and runs through Oct. 12 in Los Angeles, hitting 14 cities in the U.S. and four in Canada. VIP packages, featuring premium seating and a meet-and-greet with PSB, go on sale 10 a.m. Wednesday, with general on-sales following on Friday.

Philly is closer but The Beacon is such a nice place to see a show. I wonder how their record sales do in Texas? Do they use that as a guide? You should petition their website. Maybe they would add a show. Do they have a Facebook page?
I've lost track of PSB over the last couple of Albums, I need to check them out. Looks like they aren't coming anywhere near me. The Nearest for me would be Atlanta GA...I probably wouldn't travel that far.

I wouldn't mind to watch them playing (?) live again actually.. I think 'Thursday', one of the singles of the last album is an absolutely fabulous dance song.
He wishes he still had that hair! I got a PSB result this week - managed to snaffle a freebie ltd edition 'It Couldn't Happen Here' blu ray with the book. They're like gold dust but I've got someone on the inside
Hadn't seen it since if first came out - it couldn't be more 80s but stands up as time capsule if nothing else.
We'll keep our trip to NYC this September as planned. We already have tickets to see David Byrne's American Utopia and Moulin Rouge! The Musical that trip. Looks like we'll be forced to go back to New York next September as well! (Not a complaint! Always looking for an excuse to travel. )

That's disappointing, but I hope you all will still have a good trip!
